One thing I have gleaned is that a GB sticker must be displayed regardless of Euro or GB on the number plate

That's another thing I have to stick on!

Don't do like me and buy a magnetic GB sign for a GRP/Alluminium body. Doh!

Far as I know, bike covers don't come with an integral warning square. There is a transparent 'envelope' sewn into my cover where you slide the warning square into. It fastens at the top edge with Velcro.

UV sunlight has started to rot my transparent envelope after two month long exploits to Europe in two years. Make sure you have some bungee cords to fix it on to the holes in the corners of the warning square which are already there.

Euro symbol
If you display the Euro symbol and Great Britain (GB) national identifier on your number plate, then you won’t need a separate GB sticker when travelling within the European Union.

The Euro symbol must:

  • be a minimum height of 98mm
  • have a width between 40 and 50mm
  • have a reflective blue background with 12 reflecting yellow stars at the top
  • show the member state (GB) in reflecting white or yellow
:)

Outside of the EU the Vienna Convention usually applies.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna_Convention_on_Road_Traffic
Note where the country code is part of the number plate it must be displayed front and rear.
Where the "old" oval GB plate is used its only required on the rear.
Therefore correctly sized, lettered and coloured EU plate should make you legal most places.
Two major countries are not signatories of the Vienna Convention, China and the USA.
