We bought a lafuma chair for my wife at last years Peterborough show and the elastic has snapped allready.

Is she especially heavy? no.

On reading lafuma website it suggests that

Elastic Cords: The lifespan of elastic cords used to suspend the fabrics on many Lafuma chairs varies according to use and weather conditions. Cords should generally be replaced every two years or when they show any sign of wear. Lafuma lacing cords can be purchased from the ‘Spare Parts’ area of our site or from your Lafuma stockist.

I didnt expect this! bi-annual service on a chair???

Jon

btw, its also difficult to fold and quite heavy.

Must have changed the elastic on ours every two years since I bought them, the elastic does stretch, and perish. The difference when the new elastic is fitted is very noticeable.

We had a pair for over 10 years and changed the elastic once! We have two new ones now made of the mesh fabric but yes they are very heavy, I've been banned from taking them away, so looks like it will have to be the garden then for snoozing in comfort! Unless I have a serious rebellion of course!

Oh! Do we have to change the elastic?
Must have had ours for at least 10 years and never thought about re-threading them.
Better check them before the Memsahib ends up with legs in the air and yelling....................................or on the other hand. :D:D

But not nearly as comfortable as the World's Most Comfortable Outside Van Sitting Chair (recently re-strung with 8mm bungy cord).
