Just back from a week in Keswick where we stayed at the CCC site and what a great place. We had great weather which helped when out walking 5 - 10 miles a day. Keswick is a really nice town with many shops, cafes and restaurants (most dog friendly) which is a boost for us and only 10 minutes from the site. There is a small dog walk on site and many walking routes direct from the site . It was full most of the week with a good mixture of caravans, motorhomes and tents but still didn't feel too crowded. We will most certainly visit again. FYI, the wardens were all friendly.

And really nice wardens we found. Gets out vote. Lovely theatre, we saw Chris Barber there, 84 and still brought the sell-out house down.

We love it there, and we use it to visit the theatre as well. Some lovely pubs to be found.

We had a week there in June, as you say great site, went kayaking everyday on Derwent Water, will be definitely going back,
Great pubs and dog friendly,
Good walks up to surprise view and Ashness bridge if your up for it, then gentle meander to pub on side of Derwent water for a swift beer or 2 !!

Expensive but you can't beat location, location, location. Enjoyed it so much we've booked for next year as well, so will renew our membership of ccc but will be looking to use more of the cl sites as the main sites are expensive.

We got in a couple of weeks ago for september i think the Oval is closing soon to be updated
Had a look on that site and it does need upating. Currenlty they are using portacabins for loos and shower block, not nice to look at.

I've been trying to get in for months now, mid week and they are always full!
Mots folks we talked to on site and a couple of people I have talked to in Aberdeen say it's relly difficult to get on to, especially at short notice. We booked early April for a week in July and were luky to get a space.

We spend most bank holidays there mainly just for the location and excellent friendly staff although we book early in the year, the oval is small but well kept we stop there for new year the portacabins have been there as long as I can remember but well kept, I think they are merging the oval with walker park (field behind) and adding electric etc.
