They don't really need to be dry, but most importantly don't roll up with any leaves on the awning as the tannins will be crushed out and permanently stain the awning

They can go away damp
But bone dry them within a couple of days

Left mine damp once and it took ages of scrubbing to get the mildew black marks out of the texture of the blind, top and botom

which links nicely onto .....

'How to clean an awning' ..

this method is cheap and it works.. will remove mildew, bird crap, and most other dirt..

you need, a bucket of warm water with a good squirt of washing up liquid and one cup of thin cheap bleach

extend the blind fully, then scrub both sides, with a soft broom or car wash brush

whilst still wet and soapy, roll the awning in, leave for about 30 mins..

Extend awning and hose off .. leave to dry ..

That's exactly how I did mine Jim, and it came up a treat. (y)

The material has since been renewed due to being storm trashed in Germany, when I took my "eye off the ball" so to speak.

Cheers,

Jock. :)
