Is this impossible??
We have a stag planned for July.
2 campervans are being picked up in Alloa and everyone is driving to try and wild camp somewhere within 2 hours of Oban (where we are going fishing the next day). We then go to Stonefield Castle Hotel by Loch Fyne for the Sunday night.

I want to suggest somewhere for the 2 campervans to meet me near Oban in my 29ft RV.

Any ideas?
Of course, we will be respectful to the general rules of wild camping but is it just not feasible to hope to find somwhere for a 29ft RV, 2 campervans and a few tents?
Or are there any accomodating sites?
Many thanks in advance
Jules

Hi.

We go diving a lot in Oban and dive with Puffin Diving. They have a very large car park as well as a couple of place to pitch a tent. If you dive with them its free but im not sure about costs if your not a diver. No harm in giving them a ring and asking the question though.

Hi

Two places I know of

The N Ledaig CC site just north of Oban over the Connel bridge , (kind of expensive,) and another farm site just outside Ledaig on the north end of the loch.. about a mile further on, turn left at the village and it's on the left in about 500 mt £12 ..

both have plenty of space for RVs

see my Google map in signature for locations.. 'RV Suitable Site'

I was in that Coach Park in Oban on Monday last.
Although I managed to get fresh water from the leisure centre I did notice that the signs were very evident in stating that NO Overnight parking was allowed.

You could contact this site :- Welcome to caravans at Highfield!
- helpful people with various options for camping.
OK so its not free, but you will have access to water and somewhere legal to dump your toilet.
Regards,

I was in Highfield 1 last Friday night.
Very quiet and relaxing BUT the furthest field away from toilets and showers.

Showers were £1 each time.

Try Taynuilt. Go through the village onthe B 845. Keep on this road and it ends up at the old ferry pier. Plenty room here for you all. :thumb::thumb:

wild camp

I have camped in tarbert on the entrance to the marina which is on the north side of the bay, there is a small access road just before the marina itself on the starboard side (right for you landlubbers) and have used the toilets(berth holders only of course) for the marina, although there has been some redevelopment might be worth a look loads of eateries/pubs nice town bit far from Oban I appreciate good fishing Loch Fyne
