Just place the main unit on the door ,window frame & the reed switch on the opening part. sliding windows I put the unit on the glass & the switch on the channel of the frame.
P,s I buy them here , without the flashing led, at the Chinese shop. 60c each .

I was just worried re a tea leaf trying to turn it off , if it was at the top i.e its narrowest apparature it would be more difficult to nullify ?

Well it'll be switched off when the window's open if it's the same as ours, otherwise it'll be screaming at you!

I fitted these to all windows on our van before we went abroad last year and have never ever used them! This year in Italy and the south if France the temperature got up to 32C and you could not sleep at night without the windows open. Never ever a problem, felt totally safe but we were either on aires, campsites or stellplatz. As usual were careful to feel comfortable about each site. Moved on from one where we didn't feel happy. I have rape/personal attack alarms installed on the Heki rooflights in case anyone tries to "drop in". These require no switching on or off as they connect the fly screen side to the obscure side and you just slide the whole thing to whichever side you want.

For me, the point is to have the flashing light when we're not in the van simply as a bit of a deterrent. If they want to get in they will, but it just might put off some passing opportunist.

Any visible deterrent will increase the chances of a potential thief looking for a softer target. At night on a dark air or campsite these are obvious. We have the van alarm on so doors are protected but internal sensors are of course off so these protect windows.

For me the point is they are a visible deterrent.

As CWH says they are a deterrent but from a user point of view they make us feel safer when sleeping in the MH on Aires or Wildcamping.
We fit ours to the bottom of the window but suggest you do a 'dummy run' before removing the covering on the sticky part.

They are a good deterrent as said.. Most thieves will walk past a van with obvious alarms and look for an easier target.. But the determined ones.. Well all they have to do is grab hold of them and tug.. They rip off and the thief simply throws them away or stamps on them !

Having said that if you are IN the van then the noise will do the job no matter how quick they are
