Can anyone tell me if you can buy proper bacon in benidorm

Yes you can in many shops, but choose wisely, don't make rash decisions!

There is an ICELAND up by Benidorm palace.. Not sure on bacon quality but would assume you can get it..
Nearly all the bars have "english bacon" so would imagine some shops will..
It's the one thing we never look for when we are there, we either have it with us in the van or if at our apartment we eat out.

Of course you can do you think a place in Spain with more English than England would not cater for there breakfasts.

most lidl sell uk packed bacon these days in spain . well certainly on the med coast . its not so common in the inland ones or along the asturian /cantarbria coast.
used to be difficult to find but last 5-6yrs its got very easy.

there is alot of bacon that comes fron denmark in uk . but there are also alot of factories owned by danepac /tulip etc in uk.
i know i have delivered thousands of tons of bacon from bacon packing factories in cornwall. to all over uk . not to the shops but the big supermarket fridge warehouses . Broken Link Removed

Hardly worth buying it though when you can get a mega breakfast for €2.75 virtually everywhere Not worth the hassle in cooking

Just returned from 3 months in the Benidorm area and has been mentioned, Iceland near the Palace stocks a fair range of British foods including "Hollands Pies" made in in the Rossendale Valley.

I don't think BYOB stands for Bring Your Own Bacon so they may get miffed!

there is no way of saying the best cafe for brekkie its each to thier own but there are so many to choose from you will be spoilt for choise when you arriving ?

They sell it every where, any supermarket, and HP Sauce etc.
perm any 1 from 3000 cafés that do breakfast full English style.
Fish and chips on a Friday, Sunday Roast etc.

I had the great misfortune to visit Benidorm to do a bit of business quite recently. I did escape after about 15 hours thank God.

(The food comment was a joke! )

Chinese food in Spain is not the same as in the UK - we never found a decent one all the time we lived there. Though I guess it's subjective like most things.
Very few good Indian Restaurants either.

Come out campsite. Cross road and walk downhill towards town.. You have one next to the rock and roll house, The WOK. €10 (no drink inc) or carry on down past the Dia supermarket and there is a small one there by the lights €5.50 inc drink.
Have used both over the years and ok for different reasons.

You can fare much better with Indian food though.

We had an Indian Restaurant open near where we were living at the time - it was eagerly awaited as up until then we only had Chinese restaurants to choose from (for a real taste of home). Opening night finally came and we sat at our table, eagerly awaiting our Tandoori Dinner to arrive....
The waiter brought the first platter of food from the kitchens - it was chicken tikka, on a smoking hot, cast iron platter.
Being a very small establishment, the room quickly filled with smoke!!!!
Everyone started to cough - the air was thick...
In an attempt the clear the smoke the water turned on all the air conditioning.
There was a big flash from the fuse box and all the lights went out - plunging the restaurant into darkness!!!
Being full of Brits, desperate for a taste of curry, rather than running for the nearest exit, instead somebody cheered and everyone burst out laughing.
A trip to our local curry house in Blighty was never this exciting !

I found the favourite Supermarket for the Spanish in the Valencia region is Mas Y Mas.


The best Bacon is Oscar Meyer. It tastes like bacon used to taste and it crisps up to perfection.
It's also probably very bad for you!

I shall be in Benidorm on the 22nd so I hope there is room for me
