Try Stoer, near Lochinver on the NW coast. Also Rua Reidh near Gairloch, but the access road might be tricky for a longer van.

On and off for many years.
This one is worth a visit but it's not on your route..... probably not on anyone's route :)

Ardnamurchan Lighthouse is a 36-metre-tall, pink granite tower lighthouse built in 1849 by Alan Stevenson. It is the only lighthouse in the UK built in the Egyptian style. Wikipedia

Think it may be the most westerly point on UK mainland????

Edit: Campers must use the top car park. The road to it is single track with passing places.

Don't forget Dunnet Head - the most northerly point on the British mainland - we stayed there last year. Level tarmac and a nice place to park up for the night.

Good plan! You will save a fortune on lighting the van after dark. However, don't expect to finish that bed time book for a while. :)

Wow. Thank you all. Magic places. The most westerly may not have been on our route... It sure is. Now. We planned a trip about 18 days. Looks like 6 weeks now.. Roll on sep 6th.

If on the east coast the lighthouse museum is very worthwhile, it has parking for MHs and you can get a tour up the lighthouse itself which I recommend.

The road to Ardnamurchen is single track with passing places but well worth the effort. Midge central in that area of course!

And if you are in the area not very far away are the singing sands of Kentra Bay. A bit of a walk but worth it.

And this is a very nice site - but zero local facilities but you should be able to hear the Eider calling on the loch.

Are we after the watershed now? Because I have to point out that Mrs Froghopper's wish to go to sleep close to a large vertical erection is very healthy and to be applauded. :)

Surely Mrs Nearly Everybody's preference for sleep in the face of such a thing is well documented.
Purely as a result of doing 99% of all the work, I should add.:D

BTW, if she is so keen on lighthouses, the one at Rua Reidh provides very nice self catering accommodation. She could sleep right inside one!!

Many, many years ago I attended an interview to be the first Director, strangest interview I have ever attended with half the council asking inappropriate questions whilst the HR manager squirmed.

Also have enjoyed the paddle out to Muckle Flugga though without the van!
