Just stayed on this very nice site with heated outdoor swimming pool (y) AA 5 flag site

Toilet/Shower block immaculate, pitches well space and mostly hard standing with grassy areas all round. Wardens, Janet & Brian very helpful :)

Just a short 45 mins stroll away was the lovely pub The White Horse Inn, great food & service.

All in all a very nice short break, we will be back for another visit soon ;)

Is that 45 minutes stroll the journey to the pub or from the pub?

Confused Dot Com here - site looks lovely but it says the pub is 500 yards away and according to their Google map on their website, it does food... it also is the only pub in the vicinity? Why does it take 45 mins - even at a stroll?

Hi, we chose to go to The White Horse in Churton as they let dogs into the bar area where we could eat our evening meal. The Cock O'Barton doesn't allow dogs in, which is the nearest pub. The 45 minutes stroll was on the way to the pub we got a taxi back to the site as it was getting dark (y)

Thanks Antony

A few years ago the owners of that site also ran a storage site nearby (don't know if they still do), and charged for a full year in advance. When we gave them advance notice of leaving they charged us for three months of storage that we didn't use, and no, there wasn't any small print to refer to as there wasn't a printed contract. Yes we should have known better, but it was the first one we'd used and our options were limited at the time.

Doesn't detract from the campsite or the site staff of course, I know the place well and it's a good one - just be wary of storing your vehicle with the same owners without any up front T&C's.

Local attractions worth a visit include Beeston Castle, Bickerton Hill (great views from both on a clear day), the Sandstone Trail if you like a good hike, and Stretton Watermill if you like your rural heritage.
