Question. Are you getting the uprated engine at the same price as the original you ordered?? If so, sod the insurance and fuel, (negligible), your getting quite a few bobs worth for nowt.(y)
If, on the other hand, they want to charge you.....................................:(

The fuel consumption figures are very similar for the 2.3 and the 3.0 litre engines.

I assume you are not being charged extra (the 3.0 is normally about 2k extra) and in the circumstances I wouldn't be too upset.

You will be better off with the bigger engine. More likely to get better MPG and the engine will not be working as hard and will last a lot longer. The 3.0 litre engine is from the Iveco range and is bullet proof .

Since 2011 (tugger for 20 before that)
If it's not costing any extra (and it shouldn't) fuel consumption is comparable, if not better, and it is a better drive. Obviously, you should inform the insurance but I will be surprised it it makes much difference. RESULT (y)(y)

Still trucking and learning
We get better fuel consumption on our current van which is a 3 L than we did on our last van which was 2.3 L. Both are the same weight. Definitely would go for the bigger engine as long as no extra cost involved.

Don't forget the bigger engine will slightly affect your available payload( I think)

If it's the tag axle Kon Tiki then the 2.8 engine is a better choice anyway, so I have to go along with everyone else, if you are getting it for free then you are quids in! :D

There will be a weight difference, I think its 50kg extra for the 3litre engine, and if supplied on the heavy chassis instead of the light another 50kg. Not sure of your vehicle weight but if plated at 3500kg this will significantly affect payload.

He's right you know, just looked up the specs, the 180bhp engine is 3.0
Yes it is still the Iveco 3 litre motor.
