Here's the relevant note on North Somersets FAQs page reached from the link on Graham's valuable website:

"Marine Parade and beach parking, Weston-super-Mare (no access after dusk) - campers or motorhomes may park on the beach car parks"

We often park our MH on the beach in the winter on a nice bright sunny day - we like it at the southern end of the front (Marine Parade) because it is quieter - farther from the centre of Weston though - access here:

Marine Parade, Street view is worth looking at.. you can see the parking notice and there are marked parking bays..
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.3...QXNY6WGZC0oSkFCy4A!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1

Ah, Jim just beat me with the Google streetview link. However, just to clarify his note - the overall parking area is marked out by the posts, but there aren't any 'individual' parking bays marked - it's a 'free-for-all', or it was last time we were there a few months ago.

Hi Mike.. are you sure ? The street view shows bays .. or am I on the wrong street ?

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.3...4!1s5QuJuAMlfmttsK6e05gENQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Ah, possible misunderstanding - I was referring to parking ON the beach (ie on the sand), rather than on Marine Parade itself, where, yes the bays are marked.

And yes, perhaps surprisingly, there's no practical issue taking a 3.5 ton motorhome on the sand - which is very hard and compact.

Don't let the incoming tide try to turn your MH into a boat - it doesn't work that way!!

Dont forget to wash the salt off afterwards (y).Just a friendly warning be very aware of the soft mud warning signs.Far safer to keep on the road IMO.

I know that is the obvious assumption, but I don't think the local Council would advise "...campers or motorhomes may park on the beach car parks", if they didn't believe it was safe to do so.

We have certainly never had a problem, and in fact it can be the ideal place, with no marked out bays.

Thats why locally we call it weston super mud, because of the amount of vehicles either lost or pulled out every year.By all means feel free to park where you like and do it sensibly, but with a heavier vehicle it makes sense to keep well back from the warning signs.:)(y)

Weston Super Mare is a place? Blimey - I thought it was Champion The Wonder Horse's missus.

Yes, living in Weston Super Mud I have seen more than my fair share of cars submerged by both the mud and the fast incoming tide - sometimes irretrievable until the next low tide. Usually they are the reversed baseball capped boy racers intent on showing their 'prowess' behind the wheel to some 16 year old lass who gee's them on,,,,, the looks on their faces is enough to write a book about when they find their car is being swallowed by the mud and tide - they are way too clever to heed the warning signs you see.

Anyway - yes you can park MoHo's and as recommended at the Southern side of the beach towards Uphill on the smaller tides, on the hard sand. You can park on the sea front parking (tarmac road) also, but this can get congested when busy during the summer.

Regards,

Trikeman.

We also live in North Somerset, and if I recall correctly, the area for parking towards the Uphill end of the beach is marked out with wooden posts indicating the maximum area to be used ie NOT too far down the beach towards the sea.

The trouble with parking on Marine Parade is the constant flow of traffic going past, which is not ideal if you want to just relax in the van.

But horses for courses... :)

Just rekindling this old chesnut. Is it still ok to park motorhomes on the beach at Weston Super Mare?
Seems like the answer is yes.
