Hi guys
Can anyone confirm the access to the Calais . Should have been on P AND O but have now booked a crossing for mid day tomorrow on the train. As you all probably know there are trucks parked up on every plot of concrete within 50 miles of the port. How much extra time if any should we allow to get to the terminal.

Thanks all.
Martin

Operation Stack is beginning to move now but I think if you approach the M20 at junction 11 (Hythe) you can get on there to get to junction 11a (Tunnel). Where are you travelling from?

As far as I'm aware the tunnel approach at Calais is OK, you just have to bypass all the trucks (if they're still there) on the autoroute to get to the passenger entrance. At the moment the autoroute info website is showing free flowing traffic around Calais

We came back the other day everything clear in Calais you just drive past the line of trucks and into the euro tunnel. What ever you do do not join the line of trucks. The biggest problem is in Kent if operation Stack is still on it took ages to get through

Currently in Forge Les Eaux. Have a 7.30am tunnel crossing on Saturday. I hope we don't get held up. If we miss our timed train due to hold ups do you think Eurotunnel will let us on a later one with the same ticket?

I'd be surprised if they didn't - reckon they are generally pretty flexible and given the current situation you ought to be OK.

We're booked to cross from Folkestone to Calais next Friday the 9th.

We arrived at Kent last Tuesday at 9.50pm our crossing should have been 17.50. We were delayed by traffic jams and the tunnel was closed early afternoon.
They were great, gave us a time for the train at check in with the advice to go to customer service to see if there was an earlier high train. Left out telephone number, half an hour later we were on the way. No extra charge, think they are doing everything they can for people.

We are booked for crossing on the 11th. Really hoping everything is calm by then but judging from my recent luck it won't be!

We came back from France through the tunnel yesterday no problem at Calais but the M20 being shut added a lot of time to the journey also the train stopped half way through the tunnel for about 20 mins

Hi,

We are using up our 'free' Tesco Eurotunnel ticket next Wednesday before it expires at the end of the month.

We have a mid-morning crossing on Wednesday 29th July.

We will be travelling up from our new home in the Gironde on Tuesday-a 12 hour journey approximately so we'll be there late evening. We have our dog & hitherto (some years ago) we've parked overnight in the dog passport check-in close to Cite Europe.

Just wondered how possible is that with the migrant situation? Or would it be better to overnight somewhere else-suggestions welcome-prefer a site.

Thanks,

Roger

There is a free aire at Wissant and an aire at Bolougne that has a charge (collected in the morning). I personally would stay outside Calais at the moment.

About 10 days ago we checked out Wissant mid afternoon and it was stuffed ....would have been OK place but because it was full we spent our last night in the Calais harbour entrance aire . Cost 8 euro I think collected about 7 pm and by then it was full . Did not see any migrants and we had a quiet
peaceful night .

At Boulogne collection is made twice a day, morning and evening, the cost is 5.25 euro for the first 48 hours. Water is an additional 3 euro.
I agree that its wise to stay out of Calais now a days.

The aire at Bolougne is fine and only 20 minutes on the A16 to the tunnel. It's far enough out of the way and has a lovely view, downside is a bit of traffic noise during the day but night time is quiet. we use this aire all the time as a last night stop. 5.25 a night and bread van in the morning. usually able to pick up british tv on the ariel to, but not always. no idea why.

Thanks Scousebird & Cobweb. We are not going to get there until evening on the Tuesday so maybe our best bet would be to stop somewhere away from Calais with an easy early am drive to the tunnel.

As I said, years ago we did camp in the small carpark next to the dog passport check-in & I wonder how feasible is that these days.

Thanks,

Roger
