You used to have the option to select the classic map but this has now gone I believe.

I'm getting on a bit better with the new version now but still don't like it. It's a massive backward step in terms of functionality from the Classic version.

Not classic any more. It points at the new version now.

When it loads for the first time do you see a row of small tabs at the bottom right of the screen? If so, click maps.google.com and it takes you to the Classic format. Or try typing that into your address bar. Both work for me in Firefox 38.

I really don't like the new version - it just isn't as easy to use..... that might be my fault but others have said the same so maybe a few of us find the new version less functional than the old.

Much prefer the classic version.
Good thing is that there is other offerings out there.

Yep signed with a stern comment that I'm using other mapping until they restore the Classic version.
