Oh Dear ..... Shame on us !!!!:blush::blush: Mind you I fear to find the same use of aire at Gruissan this week end ! I 'm off with my friend Lyli (Her first time away in Max with a night in !!!) I just hope the man from the Mairie who is selling the entrance tickets won't let them. He stands there all day...!

unfortunately not as there is just enough room to turn around, at one end is access to a park and opposite is the dump point!!! My picture doesn't do it justice.
Did you read the signage? even when free they post rules. If it does not say no awnings tables or chairs then it is permitted. I've been on some aires where spaces are marked and you do what you like on it.
I very much doubt they would all flout the rules

As Andy said.. unless awnings are specifically prohibited, I only see one van parked wrong.. .. the one parallel to the grass and using up at least two places... no doubt so they have a nice grassy spot at the hab door ..

quite common to see this on aires when it's hot .. I've even shared my awning with another van.. we parked nose to tail and I used my awning with it resting on the other van's roof.. a French van as it happens.. we had a great time..

Irrespective of any rules it is still very inconsiderate to hog space on an aire. As for the van parked parellel he is actually on the grass because just past him is the access to the park area.

Clearly given the aire rules they don't think they are.
Which Aire is it?

If you were staying you could have just parked in the next row in front of one of the awnings. If they wanted to leave before you they could get past.

Since july 2009 And Still Going Strong
When we get small French and Dutch groups turning up on site they more often ask can they park 2 on a pitch so they can be closer to each other, (and our pitch's arnt that big)And it's not to save money they just want to be close to each other. They don't like it when they're told they can't because of van distance rules.
