Has anyone been on an Aire or campsite in close proximity to Lavender Fields in the south of France and can forward details?

Watching this thread with interest as we are in Provence next week and would love to see the lavender fields.
Besides Aires, we would also be interested in any recommended viewing routes, and place to visit.

Thank you

Not right in the heart of the lavender fields, but only a 30 minute drive, Camping Les Verguettes at Villes Sur Auzon.

ACSI, NL popular. Nice village 5 mins. A couple of restaurants.
A good area for lavender viewing is around Sault. Take the D1 from Villes S A and there are a couple of viewing spots where you can look down into the valley and pick out the best fields to view from the roads below.
If you can navigate smaller roads then try the road from Sault to Aurel, not the main road but the minor one via Michouilles.
The road back from Sault to Villes along the Nesque Gorge (D943?) is a nice drive, once again, depends what you're driving.

We have just returned from France and we stayed amongst Lavender Fields near Apt, we stayed at Camping Le Luberon for 4 nights the campside was just outside Apt up a quite steep hill, we visited the hilltop villages of Rousillon and Siagnon from there, we use electric bikes.
We were told there are other campsites near Apt. The campsite was fine, just needed some TLC around the swimming pool area. Lots of cycling around there too. There are Aires around though too though we didn't visit them. You cant take a motorhome into Rousillon village. But you could have parked at Saignon. We were told by others that there is a type of mini Grand Canyon around there that we should have visited. We were just a little early for the Lavender though the scents and fields were all around, we will try and go again next year probably to a slightly different spot maybe the Aires so we see something else, it was amazing. Others have said Orange is fantastic too so that will be on next years list.

Aug 09 to date 9,000 miles!
We stayed at a site not far from Riez once for 10 days in high season, motorbike camping cos we wanted to 'do' the Gorge du Verdon. Our nostrils - and eyes - had well OD'd on lavender by the time we left! Slept well, though .........

We're at an ACSI site called L' epi Bleu at Banon, lavender fields along side it, looking splendid at the moment. Lovely hilltop town of Banon 2km away with views of lavender field all around.
Also ACSI site and good aire at Moustiers St Marie with lavender fields about 6km away

We are at Millau to night, having read this and other info, we will head for the aire at Comp tomorrow and take it from there.
I have used the satnav to search camper contact from all the key lavender towns and Comp comes up in the first two every time.

Been there and done it! We stopped on a site in Forcalquire which was a bit tight for motorhomes. Nice town though, well worth a visit. we noticed an Aire in Riez but didn't investigate it the light was fading and my Camera was twitching it go. Head for Puimoisson and you will see loads. The D6 road from Manosque to Valensole is pretty good as is the D15 from Valensole to La Brillann.

It was the gorges at Verdon, Only about 20 miles the North and South rim but takes all day, just have to keep stopping to admire the views. Stay on the aire at Moustiere st marie closeby.
Terrific.

I think perhaps they were referring to Canon d'Oppedette just a few kilometers east of Apt near the village of Viens.

Spectacular.

@gillnphil I think @GeriactricWanderer is right with the Canon d'Oppedette ... to be honest fancy visiting both of them and Grasse but a bit concerned that the roads might get too tight at the Gorges du Verdon / Grasse for a 30ft motorhome, don't want to get stuck, if anyone has stayed near in a largish outfit I would appreciate info.

We have a large van ( see pic) it was a bit hairy at times but worth it.

A little late for this year but for next year's lavender hunters this parking spot will get you that famous shot of the lavender fields with the Abbey Senanque backdrop, a 3 min level walk.
