Billing Aquadrome !
OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a terrible bloody place..
Spent a 300 quid to book four places for the Easter hols.

Surrounded by Irish tinkers ( and yes, the rubbish pile and empty gas cylinders grew daily, and we was told the site activelly encourages them ! ), we had a VERY expensive mountain bike stolen, we had mud traipsed in because everywhere was like a ploughed field, we had toilets that made me retch they were so filthy, we had the local hoody crowd from what we have been told is a VERY iffy housing estate walking round looking for anything not nailed down, we had people with caravans broken into, we had overpriced food, and what facilities were there were all run down and very shabby..
The so called security was a joke, letting anyone walk or drive in and out 24 hours a day..

All in all this is one place that we will be avoiding like the plague in future

Just in case anyone thinks I am anti traveller/gypsy, my son in law is 100% romany and even HE was cussing off the particular travellers we had to suffer after the 2nd day !!

I have had a look at the website <Link Removed> and it looks quite attractive, if you like that kind of thing.

I have always considered advertising in the UK as, just another form of corruption, IE, a pack of lies with the blessing of the government!

The Advertising Standards Agency is nothing more than another way of justifying the ongoing "Ripoff UK"

Boy oh Boy - I must go there on the next Bank Holiday - at £109 per night for my 36ft Monaco - for a minimum of three nights - that must really be the bees knees of a site!

I really cannot understand why other people on other web sites have referred to it as "Duck Sh*t City" :Eeek:

Comes to that, I cannot understand why I haven't yet included it in the Big Pitch Guide. - or just maybe, I can!

Seems the quality of this campsite hasn't changed for some years, their website looks great.

Pay's to check out campsite reviews before booking:thumb:

JawsMC, have you any pictures from your visit to show the site as you describe it ?

We spent a w/e there last Nov with the funsters .. great weekend but we would never go back to Billing ..

The RV next to us (sorry forgot your names) had two bikes stolen, and the guy on the other side had his sat dish and tripod stolen ..

I would rather camp (and feel safer) in the middle of Beirut.. it's that bad..

Er ...

Have to agree, nice area but the site has definitely 'Gone to the Dogs' as the 'Duck S***t City' was also 'Dog S***t City' specially for poor John as one of the 'Off the Lead mutts' left him a pressie on his door step:Doh:

Agree with you 100% on this Doug. I get very angry at many TV adverts which are just so blatantly lies, why on earth don't people realise  The best advert is personal recommendatiom (or NON recommendation it would seem so far as Billing Aquadrome is concerned ::bigsmile:) I have some 'Top Sites' flyers that fell out of MMM recently and IIRC Billing was in there, just going to get my big black marker pen and cross it out ::bigsmile:

Sorry peeps, no pictures I am afraid.. did not dare get the camera out in case anyone spotted it and came back for it later !! :Eeek:

In all honesty pictures are just no use though.. All they would show was a site that, quite frankly and as per the adverts, looks pretty good !
It is mainly about the low life people of the immediate area and the fact the site owners make no effort to make any real attempt at security

And if you complain do they respond? there seems to be an overwhelming number of bad reviews regarding this site.

Hi Jaws Mc.

I'm glad your bikes were insured but you cant get insured for the loss of quality time with your family.

In particular for people who work etc and can only get away for a limited amount of time through the year it's a sickener.

Your report was a good thing anyhow, it will stop anybody else having their time off ruined.

Cheers
Jim

Please do not take offence.. This was not an emotive post it was merely factual.
The people were Irish ( the guy I spoke to was born in County Wexford ) and were travellers/tinkers.
This was not something gleaned from scratchy info but from TALKING to the leader of one of the groups ( who I will say up front was a nice enough bloke and he was trying hard to keep things low key but sadly failed dismally )

How else could I have put it ??
Several large groups of people who originate from a place to the west of the UK mainland but not too far, who travel around the country in vans and caravans and who have a rather poor reputation ?

Sorry chap, I do not do PC and if I offended you, again I apologise.

Believe me, with romany gypsys in the family I HAVE to be thick skinned and def NOT biased in any way.. I have scottish and irish ancestors, I LOVE Ireland and its people.. Which sounds patronising until I add my sister-in-law moved to Ireland several years ago and Eire is on my top five list of places I would like to retire to in a couple of years time..Maybe around Kilkenny or Waterford..

As an aside, try being a bloody Londoner living in Norfolk ! slimey untrustworthy buggers the lot of us !LOL !!

Yes I believe so, but bikers and serious pushbike enthusiasts will all tell you the same thing..
It is not so much the cost but a bike becomes something very personal and after a wee while it is almost an extention of you your self..
Yes, it can be replaced ( after jumping through hoops with the insurance company ! ) but to REPLACE it will take some time.
A new bike can be bought, and THEN you have to make it your own again..
This is so hard to explain !!! Sorry..

Ok,,, I guess it is really the same as your motorhome.. If it was stolen you could replace it, but it would take you ages to make the new one your own again

I was there last November with the funsters. Went to the shop on Sunday morning for a paper and went in one of the toilet blocks on the way back and was confronted with a lad of about 14/15 rolling a joint.

We were there with the funsters in November.

Some parts where the statics were based, were kept really well, some of them had CCTV and alarms on their places.

However, it didnt feel very safe there.

It was also very, very, muddy, and one funster ending up having a duck pond outside their motorhome, complete with ducks.

Saying that we did have a great time there, and the firework display was great. I think they are building a big leisure complex with swimming pool etc.

Just in case 'my human rights ' have been violated, I think another apology from Jaws may be required as some of my ancestors many millions of years age were sharks.
I think some of the comments from 'Jaws' is just stereo-typing all sharks!

Not really......its quite simple.

Like most other people who take out an insurance premium every year to cover home contents etc, i also have cover on items which extends outside the home, ie on holidays. BUT......some individual items i have are expensive and i pay extra cover on those as single items as they are used outside and away from my house.

As an ex-cyclist myself, though many years back now, i know the sort of money which can be spent on just one bike. Mountain bike prices pale into insignificance by comparison with specialist track racing bikes of today. These kind of bikes and the replacement cost involved means they must be individually listed on a policy, otherewise you could find yourself not fully covered.

Nope.. sorry but you have COMPLETELY missed the point.. In fact you could not be further from what I meant if you had tried ( which goes to show how poorly I explained my self ! )
It has nothing what so ever to do with money..Is there a biker on here who can explain it better I wonder ?

An example..
If you go and buy a new Honda, as far as any true biker/motorcyclist is concerned you are merely renting it off of Mr Honda
It is not until you work on the bike, add bits to it, change this and that, that it becomes YOURS.
It is a heart thing .. it is how I and a good many others feel about a bike, car, motorhome etc etc

Anyone can chuck a few quid at a shop and buy a replacement this or that, but that is only the begining.. you then have to make it your own just as you did the one that is under some scrotes bum now !
