Couple of quick points we thought you may find interesting:
'The driving other car' extension
You rarely get this on a policy, in fact almost all companies exclude it. As a broker we deal with a wide variety of insurers but the 'driving other cars' extension is a benefit to a car policy and as your motorhome is a van (of sorts) almost everyone excludes it. Obviously, you will find the odd exception but these insurers tend to then not give you the personal effects cover, correct windscreen cover etc.
Foreign Use
When arranging motorhome/camper insurance that includes breakdown cover make sure the European use matches your needs on both policies. Often we find clients ring us cancelling other policies where the motorhome insurance covered 90 days but the breakdown only 60.
Full timers
The basic principal most insurers make is that if you keep your full time property and do not sell it or rent it out the insurers view this as heavy users as opposed to full timers, this significantly reduces your rate.
DIY Conversions
The V5 document is key here. Whilst we have a number of insurers that will cover 'work in progresses' when complete you should get the V5 document changed. We have solutions for those that don't but those that have pay a significant amount less.
