We love French local markets but do find them proper expensive ( tho great produce ) , how ,in general , do Spanish markets compare ? Cheers !

I don't think they do compare. Many Spanish ones get taken over by the Gypsies and mainly sell clothe, cheap or second hand.
You need to find the few local ones that are not as well known, and even then they have the traders that sell low cost goods or second hand clothes.
For a real treat try Algoz market, only once a month bet very much a LOCAL market.

Market in Totana is huge!

Just got to keep hold of your purse ! :LOL:
One in Lorca is as Big & on a specific site , as is the Águilas one now . Both have huge amounts of vegetables sellers, along with all other comestibles.
I find the markets good value for fresh produce& exceedingly cheap.
