As we are getting no use from our RV we have decided to buy yet another caravan and sell the RV.

As it stands its costing me over £800 a year (insurance, tax, MOT) before i even sit in it and cant justify the dead money.

Work is thin on the ground at the moment with no overtime at all, even having some days without work so, even though i have every weekend off at least, i simply cant afford to go anywhere.

At least theres no tax or mot on a tin tent and insurance is optional (still cheaper than the £650 for the RV though) it makes more sense and the car will return around 22mpg towing around 1600kg....more than double the RV mileage.

But you wont get rid of me that easy. (y)

You've obviously thought it out and decided to do the best for you. We were caravanners and enjoyed every minute of it, circumstances change sometimes so we would never say never again to a caravan.

Hope you get more use out of it (y)

Good luck @pappajohn. Times change and you have to change with them.

I hope you have enormous fun with the tug-a-long.... many of our relatives have or have had them (we are the only chuggers) and I hope you enjoy as much as they do.

I always enjoy your posts so please stay with us :)

There is no need to compromise on space and luxury with a caravan as I have found out with one of these.

Nah, cant be arsed with that wild camping in Benidorm malarkey. The travel trailer is on my permanent pitch and am touring with the fiver. Its easier and cheaper to tour from Spain than it is from the UK.

Of course its still growing. Its the cheapest place in Spain to live, its open in the winter and the best weather. What more could anyone want :D.

Must confess we are toying with the idea of changing. I'm a much earlier riser than Sue, so an end fixed bed would be ideal then she could stay in bed whilst I chill in the lounge - but we simply can't afford a motorhome that would suit. However a caravan in that configuration is way less expensive. Plus I have a V6 Mercedes that would make easy work of tugging - and be available if we want to go out for the day. Would rather be a chugger though! Anybody want us to give something suitable a good home? :)(y)

Probably the same as mine if its a deisel.

3.0ltr V6.....218 horses and 300 odd torques.
i have a max trailer weight of 2000kg (4250kg train weight) so, ignoring the recommended 80% match, i can tow any caravan.

The one i'm looking at, Fleetwood Heritage 640ES, is 1700kg (87% match) and still allow 5th gear cruising (auto box)

Hi.
Last c/van we had was a Fleetwood Heritage twin axle EK ? When we went to trade in for a m/h,the price was through the floor they were just going into receivership,1909?,it was said you could go up to the gate and get one out of the yard for £10.000 +
Having said that, and only having it 6 months,it was the best c/van we had ever owned and would go back to one tomorrow, they were some c/van in their day. Buy it and enjoy.
