The end of my dipstick has fell off !!!
Just had my new...ish Winnebago Itasca serviced and the mechanic found the new oil wasnt showing on the dipstick, closer inspection showed it had broke.
Im told that Chevy the base vehichle maker extended them to fit RVs.
So some where in the sump is the business end of my dipstick.
What to do ?
I suggested an extension rivited on but mr mechanic said it needs to be special sprung steel and as he put in too much oil, should be 4.7 litres he put in 6l we cant really measure where it should be ??
Any Ideas where I might get the real thing ?

Hi Wynnielafreak, If your lucky you may be able to to recover the end piece . the dipstick tube is the a very tight fit mild steel tube into the cast block. Pull it out with care, our mech did and recovered it with a pair of pin nose pliers. ( Chev 7.4 Vortex )

I am sorry for this post BUT I really couldn't help imagining the Sunday newspaper headlines:

The "business end of Winnie La Freak's dipstick falls off!" :Eeek::Eeek::Doh:

The mind boggles at such a "double-entendre" :ROFLMAO:
