Deciding which tools to take with me on our forthcoming trip (anyone made a list?)

Have been lugging this one around for years, can't bear to part with it at least until I find out what it is for, then it's free to a good home!

An old fashioned wire/sheaf stripper....

Screw down to where the cutters strip off the outer casing without closing completely and cutting through the wire... (y) (I think)... :)

I have two different sizes plus two reels of stainless locking wire, it takes great expertise to lock 6 propellor bolts up correctly making sure the wire is taught between them in the right direction of movement,
And take it from me blood is easily drawn if you don't dress the wire termination correctly, don't ask how I know:eek:

it is also know as the Manchester screw driver
you have never owned a bich then I use the lump hammer for many things Frome knocking in wind brake poles to bashing the shitee out the van to knocking in pegs splitting wood for the fire BBQ
if I brake down I fix my van even the major tings will be done at the side of the road

Any good for Mousing Shackles?

Probably very good for that except you and I know that we would do it with whatever pair of pliers we have to hand, less need for precision and correct weight and balance on a shackle

Yep, wire locking pliers. Used all the time on aircraft maintenance.
The amount of time we see incorrectly wire locked bolts is amazing.
Wire must be twisted and installed to prevent rotation to slacken.
