Testing Panel Before Install (1 Viewer)

Before I fit my new semi flex 100w I want to be sure its working OK but I think I read somewhere that u should not expose panel to sunlight without running it through a controller.
So is it OK to test the voltage by briefly exposing the panel to light/Sun while attached to a meter? (Without any other connection)

just don't short the weirs test and always connect the panel last don not connect the panel to controller without controller being connected to the battery's

Connect batteries first to controller, then connect solar panel....do not forget inline fuses....and if you want to be sure, to be sure, then cover the solar panel so that it does not generate output until you are ready....then uncover and away you go!!!!

That is what I did with mine before I got them anywhere near the motorhome. Both were showing correct voltage so I knew they were working before I put them on. As Bill says, just make sure you don't short them.

That's a good idea. I've just bought a 150w flexi (cos it's lighter ) and wouldn't like to try removing it once it's glued down.

So gave it a test run.
Meter reading connected to panel but panel in box it came in totally covered 4.5v (so hows that happen?)
Panel exposed to Sun in conservatory with polycarbonate roof 19v
Connected to controller and electroblock panel angled direct to sun - meter showing 14v direct from POS neg hab battery terminals
Result all seem OK.
