Hi all

After the most brilliant 6 weeks, our first motorhome and trip to Spain, sadly we have to start thinking about our return trip. We're currently in Javea, it's lovely here by the way, probably heading off intending to take about a week heading north.

We were thinking of a route from Javea up to Valencia, Huesca via Pyrenees, through the tunnel to Pau and then up though Bordeaux etc.

So some sightseeing and probably using ACSI sites and Aires in France.

That sound ok? Any recommendations suggestions welcome.

No help with the route.

When here it is :rain:

We have just got 10 C after yesterday 24 C but windy.

Enjoy your trip let us know which way you do come North

Pau is a lovely city with a huge car park where all the MHs stop for the night. A good place to get your boules out :ROFLMAO:. No, honestly, the locals were playing just beside where the MHs were parked. You really must explore the Dordogne when heading north. There are some lovely towns and villages there, ie Sarlat, Rocamadour, Dom etc. ::bigsmile:

Just above Bordeaux is one of our favourite bits of France, the Charentes coast. If you've got the time, consider a diversion to such places as La Palmyre, La Rochelle, and the Ile de Re. Bikes are an advantage at La Palmyre and the Ile de Re.

Also - Parc Puy du Fou near Les Eppesses is a historical theme park that is France's biggest visitor attraction after Disneyland, and they have an aire attached. Well worth a visit.

Is I've mentioned in other threads, the aire at Parc Futuroscope near Poitiers is a bargain at only 3 Euros between 5pm and 8am and it's only a short distance off the autoroute. There's no obligation to visit the theme park but it's worth a look if you've not been before.

Hi David and Ginny

What campsite are you staying on in Javea? We are presently camped at Camping Javea and have been here for the past four weeks.

We are in a Hymer (Betty Boop) is our avatar and she is also on the van back and both sides.

If you are on site - come and find us!:roflmto:

The route you mention is perfect and poss the best way.
Great road up to Zarragossa and on the Huesca, good scenery afterwards and the LONG Somport tunnel is an experience..
Lots of Aires and places to stop at once on the French side.. Get to Bordeaux and then the N10 is free right up to Chartes..:thumb:

Hi all, just reviving an old post!

It's coming up to home time again, the last time we meandered using the Viella Tunnel, fantastic route, wonderful scenery. This time going to try the Somport @tonka recommend a couple of years ago. Want to go easy...then hit Normandy for some 6th June commemorations. Pau on the wish list this time.

Somport still good?

Cheers all

PS...we promise to bring back some sun :)

Enjoy, we are heading home on Wed :(
More of a dash though as only 5 days to do it as getting dogs passports done as we leave Benicarlo.
