Tried exchanging my 6kg propane cylinder today (empty for full) at Towler & Staines in Keighley.
I was told by the shop assistant that he wouldn't exchange the cylinder and as it was an ALTA GAS cylinder, he wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!
I explained that the motorhome dealer had given it to me (after much negotiation) and that I had used the less than half contents and asked him where could I exchange it?
Don't know, was the reply buy if you want a cylinder off me, it will cost £39.99 for the rental plus £21.99 for the gas.
I left and phoned a company called AVG in Bradford.
The guy who answered said bring it down son, I'm sure we can sort it and help you out.
I drove down and he exchanged it for a Calor cylinder and was charged £5 for the exchange and £20 for the gas. Wanting to pay by debit card and his card machine not working, he said drop the money off later on son, you look a trusting soul.
Half an hour later after visiting a cash machine, I dropped the cash off.
What a bloody good service!
So, if you're in that area (and I can only apologise if you are)(and I'm from Bradford so can say that!) AVG are worthy of your hard earned cash.
