Just back from a great weekend at Mull Music Festival. Met another Funster there and a few other motor homers. We stayed on a site just out of the town. There was a carpark that motorhomes could use beside one of the pubs. We were told however that it was not the best place to be. One motorhome got a window broken. Pubs kicking out in the early hours and the party continuing on. Apparently someone used the back of one of the motorhomes as a toilet. However, that aside , we had a great time. The music was fantastic, food great, beer great. Well worth the walk in and out of town. when we went back to our site it was so quiet. Would go again and do the same. Saw some good wild camping places as well.

Sounds like fun. What kind of music was it?
Even as an Englishman I know what sort of music they play on Mull! :)

Might be worth someone with local knowledge organising a rally for next year.

A variety of music. Mostly Scottish but the Red Pine Timber Company were there. 2. Bob Rocket, the Mad Ferret Band and many more. Not all Bagpipes, fiddles and accordions . A good variety but as with all these things the bands vary from year to year.

Don't worry. Wasn't responding to your post. They just crossed in the ether. By the way how do the Irish pipes sound? Heading over there soon. Have they found the long lost Irish dance book yet? Irish dancing part2. What to do from the waist up.......... Only joking. Can't wait to cross the water again and sample some Irish hospitality.

We're off to Mull for our first ever time next week, hoping the weather picks up though. Getting the Fishnish ferry to try and save some money, Calmac must have taken lessons from IoM Steam Packet Co on how to charge :(

I thought that the 'RET' ( road equivalent tariff) was being introduced, certainly the Islanders have been kicking up a fuss recently. They believe that the cheaper fares will bring too many cars and motorhomes to the island creating gridlock!

Since july 2009 And Still Going Strong
RET comes in later this year. And the prices quoted are a massive reduction on the now prices.
As regards the gridlock on the roads this is mainly being stirred up by the 'we want 2 way main roads from one end of the island to the other brigade'.
From what we hear from the other islands that have all ready got RET is that we should expect an increase in visitors.
We certainly loose a lot of customers who send enquires about staying on site but then once they find out the price of the ferry they cancel there bookings.

I think the first thing on the list should be to replace the ageing isleofmull mull ferry, it struggles to run all the time on time at the moment so dread to think what the sevice will be like then.

Mull is a fantastic place to visit so if you are ever this way come and have a look.

Shawn.
