PLG rate is £230, was £225 before April 2014

Are you by any chance registered as a good vehicle rather than a Motor Caravan if so the rate is £225, some insurers insist you are registered as a Motor Caravan if you are insuring it as such, might be worth checking wouldn't want to be uninsured.

PHG i.e, over 3500kg is £165
Absolutely right , mine's PHG at 3850Kg, so I reckon that if David puts in a few paving slabs he could get a reduction of some £60, ;) might pay more for the MPG though:LOL: either way they rob you :(

It's time they stuck a penny on fuel per litre and got rid of road tax. Why the hell I'm paying as much tax as some rep in a company Volvo pulling 50,000 miles a year when all I cover is around 1000 miles a year on British roads escapes me. It must rank as one of the most immoral, unfair taxes of modern Britain right alongside Inheritance tax.

Actually it wouldn't be a "penny" . Last time I worked it out VED brings in 6 billion a year. You have to divide that by litres of road fuel sold which gave a figure of 22p per litre it would need to be increased by.
Just imagine you are paying £165/year for your road tax, that's approx 3 quid/week = 300L you would have to be buying to pay the same @ 1p/litre..Those paying 265 would have to be buying 500L/week at 1p on a litre.
They aren't going to remove it without having increased fuel to cover it.:(

On and off for many years.
It used to be said the the VED also acted as a check on MOT and insurance..... well if you are an upright, law abiding, all round good citizen you will have tax and MOT (unless you make an unintentional mistake of course) and the non-law abiding citizens scum will not and will also avoid the VED.

I would like to see VED done away with and extra tax put on road fuel, lots of reasons, not only because VED is an unfair, regressive tax.
