Pollen Filter Fiat Ducato X250 (1 Viewer)

Today I decided to change the cigarette lighter socket and auxiliary socket on my MH to the ones Techno used in one of his many very useful posts. While I had the dashboard in pieces I decided to check the pollen filter and by the look on the date on the side it was well out of date (29/7/2007) as my MH is a 2008 so suspect it has never been changed!!

Cost was £7.25 inc VAT. Upon removing the original one the arrows faced towards the front of the MH supposedly the way the air flows but is this correct? As I don't think it's ever been changed I can only assume it is correct but surely the pollen filter is filtering incoming air so would have thought the air flow is towards the back of the MH??

I'm hoping Andy can answer (or anyone else who has changed it in a Ducato X250) which way the arrows were pointing when they changed it.

It is correct David, air comes over the top to your side of the filter and blows through forwards and up to the vents.

That's very similar to the state of the one I took out. Glad I changed it, been on my list of jobs but thought I'd do it at the same time as changing the cigarette and aux socket on the dash.

What does the pollen filter actually do (apart from filter pollen)?
I mean what do I get for my £11 ? Can I just remove it ? would that increase air flow to demister and heater

I guess it also filters out dust which will otherwise come into the cab. Pollen filters are also great if you have hay fever.

That looks a little bit harder! USB ports would be handy though as I use one phone as a media player and the bigger spare phone as a satnav, I currently have a little adapter stuck in on of the 12v sockets

Thanks Andy pictures are worth a thousand words. I also hard wired my sat nav which frees up both sockets.
