Was a newbie, now a Middie.
Thanks Tootles, it was scarey really full blown shaking and clenched jaw, she is such a lively little thing doesn't look or act like an old dog.
Has she had a 'busy' day today?? Out in the heat? Or not drinking enough? Sometimes it's things like that tip the scales on an older hound.

Nothing out of the ordinary except a visit from daughter which she does get excited about, daughter actually said Tammy will outlive the other two, she jinxed her.

Thanks everyone, up early to take Tammy to vets, she seems herself this morning but wouldn't settle with me upstairs last night so she slept in her usual spot sharing a bed with Heather lab. I slept off and on listening for noise from floor below. Will post how we get on.

Just back from vets, blood taken and will get results this afternoon, if clear we will wait and see if she takes anymore. If they become frequent may try medication but there was mention of an mri to see if there is a growth in brain but as she is 14 this year I would not consider an op.
ÂŁ108 lighter but they're worth it.
Vet just phoned, bloods ok, glucose a bit elevated but could be vet visit that caused that, so a wait and see game.

Thanks for the update. Lets hope she recovers well again. Vets sure arent cheap but we do our best for our pets, just like one of the family.

I'm reading up about frontline, she had the tick treatment about 2 weeks ago so probably not connected but some folks believe it causes seizures in their pets. She has had the treatment before with no ill effects.

She's looking the worse for wear. Vet said it could take 48 hrs to get back to normal

Scrumpy and I hope Tammy's a good deal better today, As you may know our Scrumpy was very ill recently and cost us a small fortune at the vets. She's now on a months antibiotics and she's doing great, she too will be 14 in a couple of weeks.

John.

Thanks John and hope your feeling better Scrumpy. We have 3 dogs and they have all cost us a fortune this year but would probably have paid out more in insurance if we had it.

b b, We've stopped using frontline completely because of the sometimes awful side effects......We now use 'Bravecto' , not cheap:eek:, but a single tab (looks like an old ROLO....and yes I would give you my last one:D) lasts 3 months. There aren't currently any 'reported' side effects and it does for tics and fleas just like frontline. No adverse of any sort on any of 'our' dogs. Worth a go?

Try not to worry. My friends dog had a seizure completely out of the blue. The dog was 11 at the time. Vet found nothing out of the ordinary, similar to Tammy, so life went on. She lived until she was 16 and a half and never had another seizure. I hope Tammy's is a one off and she has many more years of fun with Heather.

Thanks Bertie, we used to use tick collars, if she is free from fits until her next dose as an experiment I'm wondering whether to give her it. I did mention it to the vet but he didn't think frontline would cause a problem. She's seemed a bit lethargic today but wanted to share my Ritz crackers tonight. I'll check up on Bravecto. Don't think my teeth would cope with a Rolo.

Thanks Allan and Loren, hope that is the case but poor Heather tore her cruciate ligament a few weeks ago, she is nearly 13 but they do love each other, Tammy licks her and when she stops Heather nudges her. I've psyched myself to losing them both soon.
