Morning all
We've successfully completed our first time away in the MH, absolutely loved it, don't know why we didn't do it years ago, can't believe how much quicker it is to set up and pack up in comparison to the caravan.
Anyway I'm after some suggestions for places to stay for weekends etc, we're based in Taunton, Somerset and although we've rejoined the CC I wouldn't mind trying some others based on recommendation, in an ideal world it would be no more than a couple of hours from home for a couple of nights stay, we've got 2 dogs so they have to be catered for as well.
Thanks in advance
Dave

What do you want in the way of services? - eg do you want EHU, showers/loos, or do you want to be self-contained but with water & CWD, or wilding? Hardstanding or are you willing to 'risk' grass?

Would prefer EHU and loos although might be swayed if something is particularly good, happy with grass though, thanks

Hi, if you want to go on a caravan club site or a CCC site make sure you book early as we are members of both clubs and it is becoming increasingly difficult to book when you want to go due to people booking their dates way ahead and when you go online you find the popular sites are fully booked :(

I've come across this already Mike but I'm sure there are some great non CC sites, although they'd go a long way to beat the view at Trewethett Farm in Tintagel, particularly with the sunshine today

We've just done a week at Stowford Meadows, 60 miles or so from you. They're now into Low Season prices for the rest of the month - grass £10.80 pn, hardstanding £11.80 pn. Dogs £1.80 pn first dog, £1.00 after that. If you're in "field 5" (which was the only one open when we went) you will need levelling ramps.

Although I wouldn't go again that's not because of anything other than lack of public transport to get out & about. It's a huge site so out of school holidays you can probably get a nice quiet pitch for a couple of nights, though it will of course fill up more over weekends.
Great walking for dogs through their own woodland. Also a good dog-walk/ exercise area with bags & bins provided.
They have the following (but you'd need to check opening days & times etc if going out of season): Shop. Camping accessories shop. Bars, restaurants, chippy all on site. Heated indoor pool at £1.60 (used this every day). Horse riding on site at £15 per hour (some decent good-sized native ponies).

More than toes wet now!
Or the CC site at Dulverton (Exmoor House) is good.
Three \ four pubs within 5 - 10 mins walk (one of them you have to drive through their car park to get into the site!).
Shops, including local C0-op, in village as well.

Hi, just got back from a few days at Salcombe Regis (nowhere near Salcombe) which is just outside Sidmouth, great dog exercise area and a great little site all round, not too far from the donkey sanctuary. Great pub (Fountain Head) about an hours walk away.
Nice little bolthole we found there, 1.5 hrs from Weston Super Mare - just nice.(y)

Regards,

Trikeman. ;)

We love Thorneylakes at Langport in Orchard, great dog walks, superb new toilet block with individual rooms including wc, sink and shower and fishing lakes. Easy walk into Langport along river Parrot if not flooded.
