To be fair, I broke down on top of the Pyrenees, phoned the number given and went straight through to a chap with a French accent, he even pin pointed where I was on Google Earth, breakdown truck with me in less than 30 minutes, couldn't fault them!::bigsmile:

We have had to make use of the breakdown in Italy, Spain and UK every time the same rapid and caring response. They then check that you are OK at intervals and if your need any further assistance.

We have also had to claim on the policy and that experience was just as satisfactory.

I have been with them since 2006 and on Full timing cover from 2009.

We had to call them while in France. They spoke in French to the breakdown services and called us at intervals to check how things were going.

Theyre not the cheapest (£895 for FT cover for us) but you get what you pay for! Just hope I never need it!

I'm a newbie
I've insured with them for years, they seem very good, especially if you have any questions about things like Toads. Some insurers don't seem to know anything about motorhomes (or even the English language sometimes) though they will still take your premium.

Thanks,

We have been with Comfort for a couple of years and although I have never had to make a claim, thank God, when I have phoned I have always spoken to someone who is polite and efficient.

Last time I renewed I phoned them to check something and mentioned that I should really shop around before paying. The reply of the charming young lady at Comfort was along the lines of ' yes, but we are nice here '. I had to agree and duly paid up!

Seems like a well run company all round.

Thinking about swapping the main driver to someone who has just been a named driver for 25 years, and so zero NCD.

We contacted Comfort who quoted less than we're paying now with the existing main driver who has over 25 years NCD including 5 years for MH.

I had to phone up Comfort this morning to report my accident. The lady I spoke to was very nice, asked if everyone was ok etc.
Nice and simple process. Really pleased with the way they handle things.
Will be sticking to Comfort from now on I think.

I have been with Comfort for years, but being a cynical sod I did a search before renewing this year. Could not get the same cover for less elsewhere.
One quote looked good but windscreen cover was limited to only £600 so not good for an A class. A cracked windscreen is probably the most likely thing to happen so needs adaquate cover.

Comfort were great when we had our accident. But if I remember correctly they are under written by Aviva Insurance. That's when the problems started

To this day I have no idea how the blame was settled

Another (y) for Comfort as an Insurance Broker.

I did find out that quite recently, if the MH is not in use for more than 72hrs other than at the place it is regularly kept, they have to be informed, otherwise it is not covered.
For example, ours is normally kept in storage no more than 2 x miles away (same general area postcode), but it comes onto the drive either for maintenance by me, or in preparation for travels. Technically, because it was on the drive, and not in storage "whislt not in use", it wasn't covered, which I found to be absolutely ridiculous. After some discussion between Comfort and Aviva, they agreed to insure the MH at both addresses "whilst not in use"

If you leave it in storage in Spain or Portugal for example, whilst you come back to the UK for business, family, or medical matters, unless you inform them, you are not covered after the 72hr period.

Regards,

Jock.

Another vote for Comfort ..(y)

They weren't the cheapest.. but gave the best cover , EU breakdown service with RAC assist, no limit on EU travel.. £3,000 for glass, £200 excess..
Cost £345 .. 0r £288 without breakdown cover..

AIB and Safeguard were also very competitive

I was with NFU for years with the RV .. but they have gone up in price.. and were way too expensive.. over £500 and no breakdown cover..

Same story for me with Comfort. I was insured with them for seven years and then received a letter saying that they would not insure my Motorhome as it was kept on the road. I told them that it was not kept on the road but in a residents car park where I live. Makes no difference they said, we deem it to be parked on the road. I now take great pleasure in giving the Comfort sales people a one finger salute when they ask me at the shows whether I would like a quote from them.

Beginners, got Doggy the van - March 2014
We hade our first year with the MH insured with Comfortbut still had recovery with Fiat (till the MH 3 years old LOL). Now renew with them but took the recovery cover too, good price extra £58.00.
With such a lovely bunch of girls, been tempted to take their Home insurance with cover for 120 days away from home.
Great service with all the booking, hope the same will be when need them (for-God forbid, recovery, claims etc).

7 vans in 40yrs
Just insured our van for the coming year with Comfort, very helpful English speaking lady, no rushing through everything. I explained the changes in our van and no problem. Yes underwritten by Aviva but every other company I spoke to for a quote this year were Aviva. £374.00 fully comp, with max NCD Dave is 80yrs and I am 70yrs. When you are young insurance is high then you get the better deals between the ages of 30 to 60 then you start to get penalised again as you get older. I was once told by an insurance company that motorhome insurance cost's were based on accident percentages and there are not a lot of motorhome accidents but the age kicks in again.

Since 2007. But no more.
Was with Comfort, as a Fulltimer, but when I came off the road, because I still wanted to winter in Spain, they still insisted that I pay Fulltimer rates.
Told them to stuff it, so they flagged me up, so no other company underwritten by Aviva, would insure me other than as a Fulltimer.

I'm in my second year with Comfort and have had one claim with no fuss. Only gripe is that I have a new MotorHome which has Fiat European Breakdown & recovery built in and yet Comfort were happily charging me for their Euro cover. I paid it last year and duplicated cover at cost. Of course I should have realised and so I avoided it this year but, as they purport to provide a specialist product I believe they should have pointed out that I didn't need it. I only realised myself when I went to a broker for an alternative quote and he asked why I wanted it when I already have it. Unfortunately his quote was still too expensive.
