Just had 6 new Michelin Agilis Camping M+S fitted £104 each.

The 6 that came off the 2 fronts and 2 rears were almost on the markers so just about done and probably a bit risky for next months 4500 mile trip but the 2 middle tag axle tyres still had 5mm of tread left.
All 4 rears were fitted at the same time and had done at least 40'000 miles the fronts had done approx 25'000 miles. So of the middle 2 one is now on the spare as that had the original tyre on and was 14 years old first fitted a few months ago and the other I dumped as a tiny bit worn on one edge.

So that's the life of a 25ft 5 ton tag axle tyres driven fairly hard and usually running at about 4750 kgs with a 215kg Kawasaki in the garage. Apart from a tiny bit of wear on one edge of a middle axle tyre the tyres had all worn evenly across the tread and the fitter reckoned swapping them at 20'000 would have prevented that wear entirely.

So much for the myth that tag axles scuff the tyres to bits.(y)(y):):)

Should just add I have never got anywhere near 40'000 miles from a set of tyres on any other vehicle I've ever owned.

Our Michelin Agilis81's came off at 30,000 miles because of age but they looked brand new.

@Forestboy were they camping that came off, I have read some suggestions that they don't last the same as the old Agilis81.

Funny isn't it , 4000 miles on a m/cycle rear tyre we find acceptable , at greater cost ,but we expect a lot more from our car and van tyres !

Yes they were the same tyres as I refitted and 6 years old on the back 3 on the front.

Ha ha you're so right but a hell of a lot more grip on a bike tyre and a lot softer than camper tyres and a bit more risk involved.
Had a Factory Tuono that would destroy a rear tyre in less than 750 miles :) I loved that bike.

Just out of interest what pressure were you running them at. I have the same tryes on my tag axle and am happy with them, had to replace the fronts last year at 22,000 but rears still got a few mil of tread on.

I ran 75 psi on the front and 60 psi on the rear. They told me today 70 psi all round I'll try it for a while and see as I do run heavy.
(y)
Reckon 20 odd thousand on the fronts of a 5 ton tag is pretty good.
Off for St Paddys Guiness or 2 now :):)
