Breaker 9-1 good buddy!!!

Ha

The misspent Middle age!!. Kris Kristofferson eat your heart out!!.

Ye-Ha. the R-v came with one and it still works too. though the last time it was used was to convoy thorough France with 8 others a few years back!! I am not even sure we where legal!!!.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Still it was a lot of laughs. Superceeded by the mobile phone I'm Afraid!!.

Never mind it's all good fun.

Now IF I can get my hands on a second hand HANDHELD on the same frequency Management could tell me how far I was off the pitch marker, and that would avoid me driving it into the grass everytime!! mmmmmmm?:thumb:

10-4 and gone!!!

Was not legal then and not now either. Sideband radios are for Radio hams, if they have an exemption certificate but only for use on 10mtrs. 10-9 is repeat message by the way.

We wouldn't be withoout it on the motorways - great warnings of hold-ups - or when in convoy. There are still some towns where you con get directions if the satnav fails you!

Do you still have 40 odd channels to choose from? Its a long time since I heard "One Nine for a Copy"

Maybe we should have a Funster channel to listen out on:Smile:

Have a Midland 40ch with EU and UK frequencies , came with the RV, but to be frank, I've seldom heard anyone on it  So I bought a hand held 40 ch Midland which comes in useful for backing up.. or keeping in touch with 'base camp' .. shame that there aren't more people using CB.. it used to be great fun.. Chaz plays with it more than me.. :roflmto:

Hi Jim,

I must admit to being a little disappointed with the lack of people on there...

We could always have a channel dedicated to Rubber Roofs.:winky:

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:hard pressed to get a wave from some let alone chat to 'em.

aint that the truth

Advice sought on antenna ..

My CB doesn't perform very well, I put that down to the antenna not having a decent ground plane due to the wooden roof , I was thinking on buying a Mag mount and sticking it on top of the air con cover which is made of metal .. would that work or does anyone have a better idea ?

Cheers

Hi Billy

Thanks.. wing or door mirror not much use.. it's bolted to the wooden coachwork .. so no earth.

Don't think the Aircon lid is much use either as it's made of aluminium.. might need to fit a metal plate on the roof and earth it to the chassis to get a decent ground plane..

I found this site with a lot of info

Hi 10/4

Might try that, but first I need to check the installation.. might be poor connection or corrosion.. I imagine the first owner would have had a decent signal.. but maybe not, up to the roof tomorrow.. hopefully 10/2 and 10/8 soon :thumb:

could be the ground plane Jim, wood dont work :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

have you checked the SWR of the antenna.....if that aint around the 1.5 - 1 mark it wont be very good.
if its a long way out it could blow the output transistors....done it on mine when i forgot to re-fit the removeable antenna.
just chucked it in the bin and bought another..not worth the hassle finding a radio sparky to fix it.
