Is showing 0001 on the read out .

Anybody got any ideas ?? Am in Portugal atm and as I live in France would prefer not to let the French get at it !!!

You can reboot the system , but you need the operating instructions from the manual. I had problem with mine that turned out to be a PCB problem , New board cured it. Good luck.

If it's a vision 3 hold all four buttons in when unit is in stand by mode. And or disconnect power for 5 mins.

rs 232 just means a serial connection, it is a standard. Is there not a model number?

Edit, a quick Google suggests you need to disconnect the power supply, for example by removing the in line fuse, if it has one. It should then reset itself. Not just turn it on and off.

Not quite sure why unplugging the unit will not do the same as removing an inline fuse to the PSU, unless it has. An onboard battery

Lots of electronics need complete disconnection to allow any residual voltage to bleed off. It's no good just switching it off. That's why you have to unplug sky/ wifi routers etc when they get scrambled.

Unplugging would have the same effect, I thought you meant you had just turned it off with a button.

Oops, thought you were the OP! Unplug, cut the power lead with a knife, all should do the same thing but some methods will be easier to undo!

Thanks folks for all the advice but still have a none working system :-( everything has been switched off , disconnected and even dismantled but no joy :-(

The dish is now on the ground beside the van. The motor and arm back on the van . Power to everything checked and there so guess it is knackered :-(

Might mean a visit to Germany on our return home cos sure as eggs is eggs a Frenchman is not touching it !

Hopefully it just needs a cuff around the ear from someone who knows where to hit it. Worst case something has burned out or been stripped. :(

Out with the Scrabble it is then.
