The boy's going on a school trip over half term so we're taking the chance to get away too.

Tunnel is booked for Saturday morning, we'll be at Ouistreham aire on Saturday and bumbling around Normandy for the week, probably sticking to the coast if the weather forecast stays as it is.

If anyone's around and wants to have a beer we'll be the ones with two mad dogs.

I'm sure you have personal knowledge of these Terry but where or how do you store all of these fragments of information.

You are most welcome Terry, you have full dump water and electric and can keep as much to yourself as you wish, but Jackie would love to show of the new house and you would be welcome to use as much of the house facilities as you'd like.

That was eventful!

Left Kettering about 6 last night, got to Canterbury about 9.15 to discover they lock the barriers some time before that, should probably have guessed but didn't think about it. So not being able to park there we decided to go straight to the tunnel and see if we could get in early. Got there just before 10 and it was the busiest I've ever seen it, it let us check in and offered a 2.20 train for a hefty extra cost which we went for as I had had enough of driving. The car park was like the seventh layer of hell. All the boards were full of doom gloom and delays and our 2.20 train was changing all the time. Had a bit of a doze while keeping an eye on the board and eventually got called at about 2.00 which I was happy with. We then sat in the next queue for a further two hours watching trains leave without us and finally got sent down to the train at 4.10 and left at about 4.40. We got talking to one of the Eurotunnel guys while we were waiting and he said they had been struggling since Thursday afternoon with the volume of over height vehicles, cars were on time. He blamed it on the number of people going skiing with roof boxes. When we left he reckoned they were about a train and a half behind on over height vehicles and every train up to lunchtime was fully booked so only going to get worse. Probably a good job we didn't stick to our original 11.20 time. We'd probably still be there!
When we arrived we nipped round to Calais aire and got into bed at 6.30 this morning local time. Got up again at 9, had a cup of tea and drove to Ouistreham where we are tucked up on the aire. Only problem here is that the water isn't working!

Walked the dogs and I'm now having a beer and an early night is looking good (y)

Ouistreham was good. Now in Courseulles sur Mer. Stopped off at a supermarket and now going to check out the Juno beach aire as recommended by @FIDGET (y)
