Sink drainage slow (1 Viewer)

looking for advice. Filled kitchen sink today first time we have used it ourselves. When it came to draining water from sink it was stupidly slow. Any ideas why thus would be. It's our first MH so be kind lol

If the front of the van is higher than the back ie not level it will be slow.

It could simply be a feature of the van. Some drainage pipes follow strange routes round items like fridges which can slow the flow down.
Just in case it is a blockage you could try using Buster Plughole Sanitiser Foaming Granules or even cheap cola as per Broken Link Removed from yesterday

Mine is a Autotrail 700 and pipe runs level with the top of the fridge so if the front of the van is higher the pipe runs up hill and water dont like that.

Thanks guys. Will make a point of checking level next time out. Also going to pour some cheap coke down sink too. Might clean it out a little

How to Unclog A Drain With Baking Soda and Vinegar

• Pour a pot of boiling hot water down your drain.
• Dump in about 1/2 c. baking soda. Let that sit for a few minutes.
• Then, pour a mixture of 1 c. vinegar and 1. c very hot water down on top of the baking soda.
• Cover with a drain plug (to keep the reaction down below the drain surface) if you have one andlet it sit for 5-10 minutes.
• Flush one more time with a pot of boiling water.

Half the problem is insufficiently sized pipes fitted by manufacturers to save a little space and money.

Water cant flow through a 20mm pipe like it can through a 38mm or 42mm as it does at home.

All my waste plumbing is the same as domestic.....38mm rigid with proper rigid bends and elbows.
flows the same as home.

I agree but I also think it's an Autotrail thing as well we are on our second one now and still the drains are slow I've tried all sorts but it only speeds up for a short while Bigger pipes required methinks.

No, Americans do it right to start with.

I think its to do with volume.

Small bore pipe will be completely full of water which will slow itself down.
large bore pipe is water and air space so the flow isnt restricted by volume.

Mark, Our Kontiki 610 was slow to drain away in kitchen sink, but ok in shower and wash basin.

I get the wife to stand on a milk crate and blow down ours. Any lips that can completely surround a Cadbury's Crème egg like a snake eating a rat, can cope extremely well with a 2" plug hole.

Do you have a u bend thingy under the sink? Ours are always getting blocked in the kitchen and in the bathroom.

Hi yes we do. I poured 5 litres of coke cola into sink five hours ago and it still there. Something wrong somewhere I think

Definitely indicates investigating the U bend I think.

the u-bend should have a piece at the bottom which you can take off and clean out. Ours just twists by hand anti-clockwise. Don't forget to bowl under it when you take it off! Always put a bit of vaseline around the seal before tightening.

on our old van I used Mr Muscle drain unblocker as a final resort to clean the pipes and the shower waste which I couldn't get to. Left for an hour and then rinsed thoroughly.

If it is slow, rather than not draining at all, it will be worth investigating the pipe run to see if there are any pinched bends or uphill runs.
