Inverter noise (1 Viewer)

Inverters work at high frequency and sometimes can sound noisy. It is usually caused by the transformer windings if they have not been properly encapsulated or if the transformer housings are not securely fixed to pcb or chassis of equipment.

Agreed with gozomike.

Once the voltage drops below a preset level the low voltage alarm will sound.

The higher the load via the inverter, the lower the available voltage regardless of the batteries off load voltage.

To return to the original question from gozomike, how long and thick are the cables between inverter and battery(ies)? Also, what load are you drawing from the inverter (in watts) and how big is/are your leisure battery(ies)?

Some inverters have a fan to cool them when under heavy load (ours does) could this be the source of the whining noise?

Thanks guys. The leisure battery is new "apparently" but as it is under warranty the dealer is going to replace it. The cables are the correct size and only about 12" long. I think it must be a low voltage issue as it is fine when the engine is running.
