Does anybody go fishing with their MH?, either wildcamping fishing or on a site but want to be able to be parked up not too far from where i'm fishing. I have a couple of wicked spots in Spain, but fancy France, Germany and such.

Will be taking my gear to twin lakes in France in a couple of months (see thread ).I do take my gear with the van sometimes but i tend to give the wife more time when we are out in the van after years of 7 evenings and two mornings a week fishing .I wish i had a pound for every cardigan she knitted sat behind me before the kids came along .lol

Have taken fishing up as we tour Europe. Still hopeless at it - knots on top of knots - but am sure will love it.
Currently in Spain so I would be grateful for your favourite spots in Spain. (Portugal too if have any as we are heading there in a couple of weeks or so.)

Ps: i bought a Spanish 5 year licence so am legal too. Just the skill that's missing!!

Oh yes the Ebro - absolutely ideal for a novice cat-fisherman I'd think .... NOT !!

Well anywhere practically, just read 'All the Aires' and also look on your ordinary roadmap or Google Earth/ Via Michelin - and see which ones are near a lake. Also most towns have a Plan D'eau where you can usually fish.

What Jen (sedge) didn't say though was that you will need a department licence in France or risk getting your tackle confiscated by the Guard De Peche it can start to get expensive if you are touring about. The alternative is to fish private waters where you will not require a local licence.

You will not require a licence at Twin Lakes.
I believe there are Carp to over thirty pounds in the lakes so should be a good bit of sport.

Can anyone recommend some fishing spots in Scotland (Preferably Highlands and further North). I am looking for trout fishing, either river or Stillwater, and a bit of see fishing. Would ideally want somewhere where I can camp alongside the fishing. I think salmon fishing will be out of the question due to the price as anywhere decent seems expensive.
Are there any campsites in Scotland with fishing available on site.

Would I be correct in thinking that sea-fishing does not require a licence? (So a couple of Frenchmen have told me.)

Yes no licence required for sea fishing or for any rivers on the downstream side of the first bridge from the sea.

Spain and Portugal does require a licence for any type Sea, Game or coarse I am told.

where were you? although i'm a Fly / lure man. but carp on a fly could be real fun

We were here http://www.camping-inly.com/

Ellis has a real passion for fishing, and being bang opposite the lake was great for us.
Were back to France again this year, and he is looking into lakes with 40-50lb carp.

Check out Hoddam Castle's website, they are on the banks of the river Annan and you can get tickets for coarse, trout or salmon.

Not far enough north for you probably but Loch Ken had a lot of fishermen when we were there last. You can fish from the campsite. http://www.lochkenholidaypark.co.uk/ Not sure if there are trout in the loch.

My husband fishes wherever we go. For weekends way, it's usually North wales, Anglesey, fleetwood, places fairly near home. It suits me, as I can go for walks with the dog, go shopping or sit in comfort with a nice cup of tea.

I always carry gear when away in the van. Lure's for pike, coarse for any suitable lakes and telescopic beach-caster for sea. As mentioned licencing in France is by department, but if you are staying in one spot for a holiday, you can buy your licence on line before you go - http://en.cartedepeche.fr/

Portugal has lots of Barragems (Reservoirs) that are full of Carp but you have to get a licence from the ICNF (
Instituto da Conservação da Natureza e das Florestas) Only €6.50 for the whole of Portugal.

I have found the best place for the licence is just outside Lagos, if anyone needs to know where PM me.

Going to try the Barragem Arade near Silves soon, but past years had Carp to 7lb from Do Roxo and Pego do Alta, also heard of larger ones from Minas soa Domingos, all can be wild camped.

Can tell you lots of likely places but they'd all be commercially owned and run lakes. If you find anywhere free I'd be surprised !
