I had to lay the van up owing to illness back in October it went today just to check it over.
It looks ok could but no damp
We lit the fire nice and cosy in no time so I started her up two cranks and she fired up as I posted the other week sticking clutch but a bit of on of and forward and backwards cleared it but another problem.
sticking front brake callipers think they will have to come off and be serviced
so think it will take abit longer to get it out of hibernation.

When leaving our (Sally) Motorhome at our secure storage site Summer or Winter I leave in gear and don't put hand break on because of the brakes sticking. I do use a wheel clamp and being on the level there is no worry of her moving.

It is a front calliper that's sticking think I will have to take it off and service it not rely a big job normally but with my condition it all jus becomes that bit harder apart from that it just takes a bit longer

Leaving off the handbrake will make no difference in Bill's case.
As he said it is a seized FRONT caliper.

Its a classic van, these things happen with age and the onset of corrosion to parts. No way he could have avoided it.

correct.. however.. it can happen with any car / van.. not just a classic..
the brake piston on my Honda CRV rear brake jammed on .. due to corrosion on the piston caused by a damaged rubber boot..

if he had inspected before lay-up he may have noticed that and serviced them..

if the pads are jammed in the calipers.. again a bit of pre - layup servicing would have prevented it..

anyways.. good luck Bill ... get it back on the road asap..

I guess a bit of moisture in the brake fluid won't help either. Might be worth changing the brake fluid.

when water or moisture as got in to the brake fluid your rely f#'';;..d no one brake fluid shuld ever be affected with that type of contamination
it will be a bit of corrosion on the calliper pistons its only done 113000 km probably still on original pads
