My wife wants me to strip and repaint the door frames at home.

Now that might be easy for some of you lot, but it's a major project for me.

So any tips?

Do I need a heat gun and a funny shaped triangular tool or is there a better/ easier way?

Any help appreciated.

No luvvie you don't need either, you don't require any skills or previous knowledge. What you do need is the phone number of a painter and decorator and your cheque book.

Or do what I did and took the old off and replaced them, stained first.

Why does she want them stripped? ... normally you would just rub down and repaint.

Or get a decorator in;)

I think there are about 37 layers of paint on them already.

Might it be easier just to get new door frames fitted?

But can an idiot actually remove and replace it without causing havoc?
Put a new frame over the top of the old frame. It will make the doorway narrower and you will have to cut all the doors down to size but it will save all the rubbing down you need to do. (y)

We did that with some old 2 panel decorative interior doors......the wood shrank and the joints popped.
they would be well over 75 years old.
