Hi all, im new to motorhomes however i am planning to convert a coach.

My issue is a 28ft coach is great and useable but part of me really wants to go for a full 40ft coach. Id imagine though that this could be an issue for camp sites accepting.

Can anyone advise from experience if 40ft will be a problem in uk sites aswell as european?

I think you will find 40ft is legally too long for a motorhome ??
In my opinion------40ft is AT LEAST 10ft too long.

Camp site will need researching and ringing to check access and pitch size.
Not many where you can just turn up.
Caravan club sites have a length limit far below 40ft.

Also, do you have a C class licence (HGV 2) as the coach will be over 7500kg.

Sorry Night, it is legal at 40ft if it isn't re-registered as a motorhome.
Max length for a coach is 44' 3"

Motorhome max is 39' 4"

If it isn't re-registered the op will need a D class PSV licence

Our Burstner is 9.2 metres / 30ft 2 inches long and we love it and the space it provides but I wouldn't want it to be any bigger and think that next time around we will go a bit smaller. It depends where you will tour and what you need to take with you, when weather is nice and we are abroad we can be outside all the time. In the UK we use our inside space more but there is plenty of room. We noticed that larger motorhomes and coaches couldn't really park up so you will become more and more restricted with a bigger outfit.

We are 33' and do 'sometimes' just turn up, and have always got away with it.
At 40' you won`t want, to just turn up.
Some sites will have space for you, but you will be more limited.
So far, ive only done one trip to France, but have found there sites, have worse access than ours.
There roads, however are far easier to drive, especially for a 40'.

Thanks all for advice so far.

Regarding license i have full cat D (psv). Also will be having 10 belted seats so psv license needed not hgv (4 at table, 4 captain chairs, crew seat and driver).

Pretty much what i thought regarding size. Really had my mind set on a plaxton excalibur aswell! Looks like i will be settling for a midi coach at 28ft. Still will be good though.

Thanks again
