can someone please tell me what the internal and external pumps are on control panel. I suppose the internal is for taps, shower etc. What is external about?

It's for auto filling of the water tank if you have that facility I think.
Others will be along to voice their expertise. (y)

Yes it will send 12 volts to your water fill point to plug in a 12 volt pump fill hose. This allows you to pump water from a rollalong.

Oh okay I understand what you mean I think. So I would presumably buy a pump that attaches to the charging socket outside the MH

No Mark it plugs into your water fill point. If you lift the flap you will see two copper contacts.
If you normally fill by hose pipe then it is not something you will ever use.

Not many motorhomes feature the external pump facility but those that do are British built as it is a common feature on caravans and Swifts origins is caravans.

That's a good start someone will know given we know the vehicle now. (y)
What does the fill point look like? 2002 is too early for the Ultra flow type fill point.

I fitted a socket to my Autotrail as I find it very useful to top up the water when pitched for longer periods when you don't want to keep backing off the pitch just to top up you're water when you don't have a tap nearby for. Hose

Yes I was just going to edit my post to a similar vein. It is possible given the age of 12 years that a previous owner has made a modification or upgrade. If there is clearly no switch at the control panel or in an obvious place that would make sense then the only option is to physically follow the wiring from the back of the fill point.
It may not even have a switch at all, it may have just blown a fuse.

I have checked every fuse I can find---all are OK-----but it may be an in-line fuse somewhere----this fill device was fitted at original build---there is no mention of another switch (there is a switch at the fill socket) and no mention (that I can find) in the hand book.

When you turn the switch on have you used a volt meter on the terminals? if not how do you know it is dead?
Do you know the fill device model has it got a name or anything to identify it OR a photo?

We got our dealer to fit one on our AT before we collected it from them......it sure saves a lot of hassle of having to move the van as you say. Especially as we're usually on site for a while(y)

Hi
It's a Whale system----I have put a meter on the socket and it's dead------I have put power to the pump and it works-------I haven't yet , taken the switch out to see if it is working or wires on the back of it. That's a nice weather job :)

So is it like this? do you have microswitch taps or pressurised system?

Mr Google tells me that the external pump device is the same for either system. However if your system works on pressure sensing then the pump will only run on pressure drop i.e. opening a tap.
If your system is microswitch taps then the pump should run when plugging it in as it operates a microswitch on the fill point.

Therefore I deduce that yours is pressure sensing.
With the pump connected and submerged in water have you tried opening a tap?

Almost a Newbie but not quite now.
Hi, Just to put my 2 penneth in,, on my Autocruise Wentworth, my external water pump is switched on when the pump is on,, I also have a switch on the cable between the power/water inlet and the pump to enable me to monitor the water feed and switch the pump off when the aquaroll is empty.
Nigel Have you tried switching the pump on,, (I know the systems is probably drained down at the moment for winter.) and checking with a voltmeter if you have voltage there.

Hi
I thought the idea of it was to fill the tank??------ I have never tried it with a tap open.

Our water system is not drained down-----the van is ready to roll at a moments notice-----when there is a risk of frost damage I put the Alde on low on EHU

I tried it a tap on---no joy--(it is a pressurised system)---
There is a separate switch just above the water socket thing--I need to pull that out and see if there is power to it.

Hi, not sure if your system is similar to mine. I have the truma but looks similar to the posted pics. The water feed to tank is through this,, if i fill from tap i have a fitting the same but without the pump just a hose connection,, if i am filling from aquaroll then i connect pump fitting which incorporates the power (on mine as stated I have a switch half way down) then pump to tank,, if it is full it just drains out of overflow under van.
Hope that helps.
Robert
ps, my motorhome is a pumped, pressurised system.. all I need is to refill the FW tank.
