Parked up for Morocco tomorrow. There is a 2 1/2
T weight limit. Not that anyone has taken any notice. There is also a sign for alternative overnight parking.

serious post..

the sign clearly shows a motorhome , probably more than 2.5t

I would read the sign as saying motorhomes are 'autorizados' ie authorised vehicles..

That sign was there last year as well, as has been said not a lot of attention has been paid to it in the past and neither when we overnighted there the weekend before last. We did however move to the area by the Mercadona Supermarket, I have heard that if you stay overnight in the area of Lidl/McDonalds you are likely to moved on.

I assume the sign with all the symbols only applies for the place given in the coordinates, which is not the Lidl car park, which in my experience are always lidl anyway. The OP's dog weighs more than the limit from what I've read! :)

I am only speak English but I did a google translate and I would interpret that sign as vehicles over 2.5 tonnes forbidden other than those authorised. As there is a picture of a motorhome I would assume that was an authorised vehicle, and they were simply trying to keep out large commercial vans HGV etc.

Really interested in this as I intend to make it to the continent before too long.

Once again Spain gives the message MH **** off.

Pardon Brian? I don't think it says that at all, whatsoever or by any means and I do NOT understand why anyone could interpret it as you have? Especially since they are also saying, look, here's the details of where you most certainly CAN park, stay the night, fill with fresh water, empty black waste, visit a supermarket, use Wifi, have a shower, fill your fuel tank and use a microwave. I completely fail to comprehend how the hell that's UN-friendly to Motorhomers?

I think it actually just says 'This carpark was not built to withstand anything over 2.5T so don't, but if you are a motorhome, here's where you can park'

Fair enough, let's go to Los Barrios then - that looks better for us anyway!

Further to my post above, when did move to the area in front of the Mercadona Supermarket, we did notice that some charmer had decided to empty his/her toilet cassette into one of the flower beds. If this is the behaviour that Spain has to put up with from the very small minority of MH'ers they have very right to say "MH **** off"

We seem to have nothing but negatives coming out of Spain, usually their police being a law unto themselves.

It says "except for authorised" which does not point to a structural problem and you don't get 2.5T delivery vehicles.

Whatever the problem is I can't see FUNsters parking where they say and walking to Lidl.

Well I dunno how far the Aire is Brian - but it certainly has a supermarket or what's the 'trolley' symbol about?

If it ain't a Lidl who gives a --- about their loss of custom? Some other brand can have our money instead, can't they?

The bottom left of the sign says parking, then it's a picture of a moon, which I take to mean overnight, and then a motorhome. I think it's not far, but all the vans here have ignored it lol

And Britain???

If only. We keep saying "keep coming and we'll show you how generous we are".

Spain appears to be "we need your cash badly, so much so we'll get our police to take a load off you".

€1000 fine for riding an electric bike perfectly legal in the UK !!!!

If you bought stuff in that shop, would that mean you were "authorised" ?

Do you honestly believe you're going to get pulled by the Guardia Trafico on an e bike? And certainly not by the Policia Local. You can wild camp virtually anywhere without the police moving you on and A frames are illegal everywhere except Britain, Free aires on the auto vias, free overnighting on services, I think Spain is very motorhome friendly and I enjoy it very much

We were thinking of buying e-bikes for when motorhoming in Spain and France. Is there likely to be a problem with that?

My rant was mainly the accumulation of all things negative about Spain on here. A-frames, wild camping, e-bikes. Just very unwelcoming.

Which is sad when there is so much to make it a very exciting destination.

What you have to remember is that in the UK if there is not a rule, regulation, law, banning it then you can do it! Whereas, in Spain if there is not a rule, regulation, law , ALLOWING it then it is illegal. It's simple !

I wonder - does that date back to Franco, or was it the case before?
