Portugal in summer (1 Viewer)

this year we wanted to head towards portugal we sailed dover Calais travelled towards Marseille on the the south coast then turned right towards Spain hoping to end up in Portugal, problem was it was to hot especially with us mainly staying in aires or wild camping and with no air conditioning, we are restricted to six weeks holiday in the school holidays middle of July to the beginning of September, we made it as far as calpe near Benidorm, next year 2015 we are determined to make Portugal just checking ferry prices to Santander it's about £1,550 return for two adults 3 kids, this crossing means we will definately make Portugal but leaves us with a couple of problems, do we now need to only use camp sites if we get air con fitted will it be to hot if we wild camp or use aires,

I may be wrong,,,,,, but I think Air-Con to work you have to be hooked up to the mains elec... so aires or a lot of them will be out...

We always carry a couple of oscilating fans.. as well..

Our air con unit is mains only.

You will def need a EHU.

Some campsite EHU's in Spain and Portugal may be restricted to 5 or 6 amps. That will probably not run the air con plus all the van systems.

You will need at least somewhere around 10 amp EHU.

We have run our`s through the inverter for an hour... but not sure how much drain on the battery`s it is..

Would never run it even on EHU through the night....

Too bloody noise`y ..

Mines too noisy at night as well.

But if my maths is correct. 240v/12v = 20

My air con runs around 6 amps

so 6 x 20= 120 amp hours.

I have never had any complaints...

I know nuffink about electric`s,,,, all I know is I have a 2500 inverter and two 185 amp hr battery`s.. (I know that cos it say`s so on the inverter and the battery`s..)

What does the accumulators do and where are they hidden.. ?
