Has anybody had any dealing with Essanjay Motohomes regarding the fitting of an A frame.

Good or bad I'd like to know before giving them a ring.

If any negative comments could you pm me please.

I don't want to start world war three !:xsmile:

Hi johnP, can't help you with regard to A-frame fitting. However I have had work carried out by Essanjay in the past. I have found their work to be carried out to a high standard.

As Brisey (Brian) say`s cannot fault their workmanship..

I imported a tag axle some years ago and they did a few job`s on it under warranty... Did`nt think they would as I didn`t go through a dealer..

Even with the one we have now, I had a problem with the alarm.. Travel world said go to the nearest workshop and get them to send them (Travel World) the bill..

Turned out there was nothing wrong.... just a thick new owner.. :xdoh:

Top blokes.. :xThumb:

And easier to get an RV in their new place..

Thanks guys,
Much appreciated comments.

Mo,

With our health problems at the moment:xsad: our plans are on hold regarding going abroad.

I've decided to sell the car transporter and put an a frame on our Fiat 500.

I've looked at Smart tow(I think that's what they're called) frames and Essanjay are the nearest fitters to us.

With the recommendations on here I'll give them a bell tomorrow.

Thanks very much.

I'm a Newbie
Are 'A' frames legal in the UK? I thought they became illegal a few years ago.

still very much a grey area in the uk, but no longer legal in some european countries so we will likely follow their lead
the biggest issue is the braking system and the law on that is now tightened up and you cant use cable controlled overrun brakes as fitted to the older versions. now needs to be electrically controlled and operate on all 4 wheels

Seconded, even if the work I had done was carried out some time ago, first class!:xThumb:

car a tow near pool do a frames

Thanks for that ,

I've used car a tow in the past and was very satisfied with their work.

The trouble is they use a perminant bar across the front of the tow vehicle and ....only my opinion it looks a bit ugly.

It did'nt matter on our old VW polo but now my wife has a nice shiny fiat 500 she doesn't want to see any of the gubbins.

It looks like this smart tow A frame is almost invisible.

I don't know the ins and outs but, if this is a recently registered new vehicle, would you not need to be very wary of the whole "type approval" situation when contemplating an A frame?

Nothing showing on these.. Broken Link Removed

All you see is an extra bung opposite side to the screw-in towing eye... so matches up nicely and they will paint the bung to match the body..

What Brian (Destination Unknown) recommended to me...

They fit an electronic tester so when hooked up you just press a button and everything springs to life so you can check the system before you start off.. :xThumb:

Bought the car, Already fitted out at Malvern...

And they just came to the camp site and did the M.H. on site..

Done about 5k miles with it on the back and not had a bit of trouble.. so simple to connect and disconnect and test before you move off.. (Got to be simple for me to do)..:xThumb:

a very interesting point, as it still constitutes a towbar. the regulations regarding post 2012 vehicles is that any towbar fitted must be type approved
