That's cheaper than Benidorm - good move.
You're not wrong there, 3 double Honey Bee brandies and sprite, 1 Kingfisher beer, a vegetable jalfrezi, chicken Hyderabadi, cumin rice and cheese and garlic naan, total bill £6.70!! God I love this place. I bought a bottle of Honey Bee brandy from the off licence, £1.60!! I wonder how many bottles I can squeeze in my suitcase :beerchug:

I bought some odomos gel the other day, it's only about 75p a tube. Smells lovely and easy to apply. I will try the cream next and let you know which is better. How many tubes do you want? Xx

Well I think you might have space in your case after using all that Suncream you took. (y)

Love the photos. So, so, so envious of your trip - please keep your blog going, adore India, bringing back so many happy memories. Have travelled in the north and the south but not been to Goa. We had planned to, but then heard it had become very commercialised. Doesn't sound like it where you are, is it a bit out of the main touristy area? Did you just find your apartment when you got out there? Hope you don't mind all the questions, just very interested.

  wish there was a smiley with a turban!

I think North Goa is much more touristy and commercial. Although there are a lot of stalls selling things it is such a friendly happy place and doesn't feel too commercial to me. We met some people in March when we were here who put us in touch with the man that owns our apartment. There are a lot of Brits that come out here for 4 or 5 months every year so they know all the best places. A long term let works out much cheaper than if you only want a place for 2 weeks but I can get more info if you decide you want to come out anytime. We love it here but it's not for everyone. If you have been to India you will probably love it but someone used to all inclusive in the Caribbean would probably struggle :D

We had a month in Goa calangute / baga over Xmas and new year 2004 /5 I think
We where on the beach lunch time when the tidal wave came in the wave was just under a meter and we all got our feet wet and at the time thought that's strange and amusing we didn't think so a couple of hours later when we got to hotel missed calls and texts are you ok I had to put on news to find out what had happened it took 2 hours to get a phone call out
It never affected our holiday and was the best ever but it certainly makes you think I would love to go back and if the problems start in North Africa we may be there next Xmas but this time 2 months
Love the place

Was a newbie, now a Middie.
Terrorists in Goa find landlords who give them houses without checking, they get motorcycles and cars on rent with some vague form of identity as guarantee, sometimes not even that, and they establish mini laboratories for bomb making, keeping explosive material like nitrate, in the confines of beautiful Goan homes in fishing villages.

Nice place...................:(:(

Not sure why you felt the need to post that? I'm sure I could find a derogatory or scaremongering comment about almost every country in the world. The reality is that Goa is one of the few countries where I will happily walk at night and I never feel threatened or worried. (y)

You are doing exactly what we are looking into. We start a one year adventure in the MH in April 2015 and have worked out our European travel map. The only bit that was causing problems was that we are heading back to UK for Christmas 2015 then didn't want to just sit Jan and Feb 2016 in Southern Spain. So we have decided to head to GOA and beyond for the 2 1/2 moths as working out the costings it would be just as cheap to stay in Goa as it is in Spain. So will look in interest as to how your trip goes. We have been to the same area as yourselves but as you mentioned two weeks was just not long enough. Very much be interested if you come across any small appartmnets and PM the contact numbers so that we can enquire about prices.

Elaine has comment that when we where in Goa the first couple of days felt a little spooky especially at night but once we got used to it we NEVER once felt un safe or threatened her and her sister used to wonder round on there own
At night and day and the markets anguna and the night market over near baga
Where fantastic
Clean beaches first class food once you sussed it out
And best of all realy nice people
But like she says if you want the caribeion first class holiday forget Goa
You either love it or hate it

Well both Kerala and Goa have a somewhat global problem in that there isn't all that much work, and the booze is cheap. which leads to a lot of alcoholism so the papers say. But we never met any!

I loved it if the plane turned up on a Sunday morning early, cos during the drive from the airport, you'd see all the girls walking to church in dresses like teenagers and young women here wore in the 1950's - fitted bodice, cap sleeves, gathered skirt in BRIGHT! colours - complete with whiter than white gloves - and a summer hat.

And then you'd go into a bar/café run by westernised Goans, and they'd be up in arms about the 'new' railway from Mumbai - because it would do No Good. All it would was bring all the thieves and all the murderers. Cos apparently they didn't have any of those.

And then if they saw you'd bought something, a scarf, sarong etc on the beach there would always be a sharp intake of breath. Cos you should not do that! - they are not from here! - they are gypsies from Rajasthan!

They used to sell the Honey Bee in plastic bottles for the flight home! Can't believe it's only £1.60 we paid £1.50 back in the 90s!

Oooh sounds good, I will see if I can find some in plastic bottles. I had contemplated pouring it on to my empty sprite bottles (y)
