When logged on beside my avatar and name it says , messages 19, To what does this refer?
I can find posts,likes etc but can't link this number to anything and yes I have tried the search facility
but couldn't find anything relevent!

It refers to the amount of posts you have made.

If you click on your name in the top right then click on your name again then click on your posts they should come up for you to scroll through.
