Our insurance renewal is about due and the broker has recommended a new insurer to our current one. First reading of the new policy left me slightly bemused as it wasn't as clear as our current vehicle policies, so I think it's time to look for some other quotes.

In the past Saga and Comfort for example haven't had any interest in a motorhome now 22 years old, it's a 1992 Hymer S670 A Class. Are there insurers who are happy to insure classic motorhomes now?

Thanks

I am sure there will be, and would suggest you try Adrian Flux as an agent. My first van many years ago was an old converted ambulance that had been done by a previous owner and these were the agents that found me insurance. This year I found that they came up with the best quote for my current MH also. Easy to deal with, you can just register your interest on their web page and they will ring you to get all the details.

Our van was already old when we bought it, a 1995, we have always used Scenic, a division of Swinton. Have always found them to be very reasonable and helpful.

When we were at Whitby goth weekend , we sat outside a coffee shop in all our gear on the Friday morning. The man on the table next to us asked if he could take a picture of us.
We said yes , then went on to tell him that we were with 30 other motorhomers , mostly pensioners, up at the community college. I think he was surprised !
He said he also had a Motorhome. We told him about MHF and how it was such a good forum , group. Long story short....

Turns out he's only the bloke who owns caravanguard. We told him to see Jim about trade membership. Don't know if he has. But what a nice bloke he was.

I have tried the companies that insure our classic cars and they all said they did not cover old motor homes. I am currently with Lancaster insurance, and they cover our .25yr old 32' RV for just under £300. I will never go back to Adrian Flux after big problems with them over closing a policy, and them continuing to take direct debit.....only got some of it back after a load of hassle.

Hi, try SCENIC (part of the Swinton Group) they specialise in older Vans, we have a 1999 Mercedes Sprinter conversion, 2.9 diesel engine. Been with Scenic 3 yrs now, VG service even when we had breakdown in France, our renewal this year is costing £294.00 inc. Fully Comp. and UK & European Breakdown. Hope this helps

One year. A whole one!
My 1992 RMB was insured initially with Flux but I renewed this year with A-Plan.

No issues with the age of the thing at all. Mileage is limited.

Though new to the motorhome side I have been, am a caravanner and I arranged my motorhome insurance through the caravan club (Devitts). The premium seemed very reasonable and included 270 days in Europe. Sadly I will only be able to use about 40 of those days until I retire in 2 years and 6 months (whose counting?) but they seemed very efficient. I will be doing my level best to avoid finding out how efficient they may be in other areas.

What a great site this is!
