Can anyone help please.
arrived home with diesel leak from top of filter housing

I read on here a while back about a conversion for the fuel filter on Ducato's.
I think it was to replace the filter with a skrew on type in place of the crap that Fiat fit.
if anyone knows what part it is and part number . It would be a great help.

thanks in advance

mine leaked after a service but not until around 3 months after we had a new filter fitted all done correctly by the garage however that also leaked the garage contacted fiat and was told sometimes the seal wont reseal of these plastic filters and the best way is a new housing unit go to ebay get a complete housing for around 100 quid its easy to fit yourself

There has been a little price war going on this week between two sellers. This one has just dropped by a penny less and so it goes on

Very wise, I have but paid £89

Easy to swap in a few minutes with no tools if you have a right hand drive vehicle.

EDIT and have read my guides

EDIT EDIT "A" class is probably a different story

EDIT EDIT EDIT mine is always in the van and available to anyone on the road if they need it.

Mine is Lefthand drive is that a problem.
the filter is under the bonnet on the same side as the steering.
its an A class .
it does look a bit tight in there.

Parked next to a nice couple last night in an IH van conversion whose van was stinking of diesel. Yes, the dreaded fuel filter. AA man called, who tightened it up a bit more and recommended a local garage for a better fix.

I don't know Mel but on the standard X250 coachbuilt I had to remove the headlight to gain access.

No Eric but they only leak after being serviced generally
So the idea is to avoid stripping it but replace it

Even if not Eric at that price I will just change the hole thing.
what I might do is but a CAV/Lucas in line filter system before the Fiat filter and just change that every year.(if there is space to fit it).
Local Fiat Garage here in Belgium just told me its €240 + vat.
the one on EBay is £59.50 +£19:50 postage to Belgium.

thats €102.70 .
And if I dont need the motorhome before 25th October my son will bring it over.
thats £19.50 saved as UK postage is free.

Isn't it a disgrace that this problem is so widespread ?

Fiat should be ashamed of themselves.

It's not fiat but UFI who manufacture it
Similar filters are fitted on very many different vehicles
The tool was manufactured in response to so many failures
The tool prevents over tightening as it will distort when you reach the correct torque
If done in a vice without the tool then it is the casing that suffers as there is no give

So if I buy the tool £34 and in future change it myself the problom should be over.
I may also cary a spare at that price then if you have a problem you can jyst change the hole filter and your on your way.

what a great site Fun is.

The tool is under £17 these days and I've not had a leak
Dave Newell also reported that he's had no leaks since using it.
