This month's Caravan Club magazine has some new road rules published for continental travellers.

Germany:

Fine for using a mobile whilst driving and for children not having seat belts fastened. Increased from €40 to €60

Fine for not displaying low emission sticker doubled to €80

From 1st July 2014 all vehicles must carry a high viz jacket

Spain:

Children under 16 must wear a helmet when cycling at all times. Adults must wear one when riding outside of built up areas

Fine for drink driving doubled to €1000

Fine for speeding just 1kph over limit can be from €100 to €500

Children under 1.35m tall no longer permitted to travel in front seats if rear one is available

Speed limit on some sections of motorways will increase from 120kpf to 130kph
Extra limits of 30kph and 20kph due to be introduced in built up areas

Tow trucks and road assistance vehicles have priority right of way

And a new rule in Portugal. All camper vans / motorhomes must park with the offside to the peg or the penalty will be to support Manchester United :devil:
