since 2006 ( I think ! )
Hi guys..
I would check to make sure they are really leisure batteries and not standard ones that are vented.
If the later the chances are one has run out of acid/water which might well mean the other is not far behind.

Once they have boiled there is only one solution.. replacement

Do you have a multi meter to hand ?

I would check the voltage of the 2nd battery whilst on hook up as it may also be the on board charger has thrown a wobbly .. Max voltage should be no more than 14.8 v ( more usually I would expect 14.2v max. )

you did the right thing.. a hot gassing battery gives off explosive gas.. if possible switch off the charger so you can still use the EHU..

as said.. duff battery ,, but if both are overheating have you checked the electrolyte levels.. ?

if that is ok, the charger could be over charging ..
if not sure how to test the charger output, have it checked by an auto or motorhome electrician ...

edit .. jaws beat me to it..

One of our 2 leisure batteries has overheated whilst we are on ehu in france we have disconnected the ehu any advice on what we should do would be very helpful
Gail and Karen

I would find nearest Camping car dealer or service agent and see what they say.
If you're on a campsite,Reception should be able point you in right direction.
If not,Google.fr is your friend ::bigsmile:

Still making mistakes! But they're not as costly.
The same thing happened to us in Spain earlier this year. Be aware that your second battery may now be looking to do the same thing. :whatthe: Our second battery died a week after the first. A VERY expensive occurrence.

Just what you said he told us how to turn off the main charger which he thinks is over charging, he wanted to know what the solar output was and said we should be okay to get home and then hopefully techno will sort it out for us once home
Many thanks Gail and Karen
